Bass speakers MB 500SL

Hey guys,I'm good with mechanics but car stereos are not my thing so have a few questions.

I have a 1991 Mercedes 500SL and have installed a new system in it,what I took out, because it kept blown a fuse was a original Becker unit with Head unit in dash, radio tuner in trunk, bass amp under passenger foot well, have 2 small dash speakers LR,the doors contain a mid range and pretty big bass speakers, all factory.

I had to make my own schematic of this nightmare so I know where all the wires go,no problem there.

I installed a HU I had laying around, not the best but works for now,it a 2007? Pioneer DEH-p3000ib,only thing the system lacks is bass response, the pioneer does have sub woofer output and just wondering if I can use the existing bass speakers in the doors and maybe a small amp located in the trunk, the bass speakers are 4 ohm, don't need a super strong bass ,just better than what it is right now,its flat, don't want to cut the car up,its really clean 34k car! I was thinking of just hooking the bass speakers in the doors to the sub out on deck, its says you can do that without amp, think it will work????

PS:I know they will be in mono mode, because sub out just has + and - RCA.

Well that didn't work, guess I need to do some more research,I just need a really simple system, thinking of putting an amp in the trunk, that's where the battery is anyways, then maybe just a medium size sub woofer located behind the rear seat compartment that has a lid, since my Pioneer unit can control the amp, should work well? I just want a simple system, have plenty of hi range with the mids and tweeters already there, what amp should I be looking for? and sub speaker? here's my car! 336HP rocket!

I would not run those off of the sub out. Ur factory system is similar to a 3 way front stage. Those "bass" speakers are gonna work better in a mid bass set up, not a sub bass. I would actually bypass all the stock equipment, install a simple 2 way component set in the front. And then you can use the sub out for either some shallow subs, or maybe place an 8" in the trunk. Something to that effect. Even get a beefy component set and amp it. Much better response than what you are trying to do.

Thanks for your response,I'm not going to use the factory bass speakers in the doors, my plan is a 300-600 watt mono amp and matching sub located in a compartment behind driver seat,I've seen some guys do that on the SL, in 96 Mercedes ran a newer type system in the SL's which had a bass sub located exactly where I want to put mine! 1990-2002 same body style, they did add holes in the compartment.

here's what one guy did,to much for me! I don't want to see it! under that speaker setup is basically a flat area, with 2 hinged doors, small seats were an option, but useless, except for small kids, mine is is flat space, perfect spot for speaker
