I have 2 12 inch alpine type Rs with a bxi1600 in a ported box 4.4cu tuned to 35 and my friend got a 12 inch L7 with a alpine 600 watt amp hooked up to it in a ported box-- my sound shakes a lot of stuff and gets loud and his sub you could hear more bass and hear it from the outside why would they sound so different is it because of the subs? thanks

I'd bet money that you could not hear a difference between two amplifiers both running the same sub within their power and frequency limits. However, if one amp is being pushed past its limits, a different amp that can make more power cleanly will sound much better and get louder.

There are many many other factors which affect how bass sounds. The type, size, and quality of the enclosure makes a huge impact on the frequency response of a subwoofer. The subwoofers themselves are different, so you can't expect them to sound the same. And the vehicles aren't even the same. The amount of deadening and the materials between the trunk and the cabin, as well as the sizes of the trunk and cabin, play a large role in the SPL of the subwoofer.

thanks i like the way my sounds was just wondering why there was such a big difference is sound- does playin at different hz have something to do with it
