bass driveby's

I do listen to my music responsibly, and I never go blasting my music through residential areas, so don't think that I do. I wanna be able to enjoy my music, and like most ppl in this forum, I like it loud. Loud doesn't mean, ball shakin, china destroying loud, but loud enough that I am causing some permanent hearing damage, lol.

Oh BTW, when she came by she didn't ask me to turn down my music she was acting like my music should never be played, anywhere. Yet I purposely had a CD made for "young" listeners, aka so swears.

I just have to get in on one of these threads because I feel as though there are more people on here than not who actually do bump irresponsibly.

Now what the people who do open their mouths on here, and shut everyone else down, do not understand a lot of the time is that not everyone is into car audio for competition purposes. There are a lot of us who put subs in our trunk for the sole purpose of hearing and feeling the bass in our music....really making it come to life.

Now, I am all up for listening responsibly, but I think that you all take it a bit too far. I am not going to bump my shit in a neighborhood at 2 in the morning, but when I am driving around during the day, I am going to listen to my music at a volume I like to hear it at, and if others hear it too, oh well.

There are issues that people have brought up such as motorcycles, and lawnmowers being louder...and guess what? they are! When people on here say that bumping loud is going to cause ticket prices to rise and such....I think that we have to also look at the flip side of things, the more people bump.....the more socially acceptable it becomes. There was a time when motorcycles caused an uprising in society, but after many years that has changed and there are not nearly as many complaints. Car audio is still in its first years and we must understand that....when a new element is added to an environment it is rejected at first, until its surroundings learn to accept it.

Now I am not trying to flame, and say hey....go turn your shit up as loud as you can all the time, but I think that there are issues nobody has brought up due to fear of rejection by the more respected members, and they need to be boiled to the surface. So...if anyone else on here has a responsible argument as I feel mine was then please bring it up so that we can all see every side of the matter at hand. Do not just yell out of your *** though please...it accomplishes nothing at all.

in response to your argument.....why dont u jus roll your windows up when your driving in residential areas??? and why not spend the extra money to get your car sound deadened...it'll improve the sound of the bass inside as well....

I do roll up my windows, and I have sound deadining on the way (so that I have it when I get my 15A), I do listen as responsibly as I can, but I know there are others thinking what I wrote and I want points to be brought up on the other side of things

More people bumping will not directly result in it becoming more socially acceptable. It's becoming less and less socially acceptable because more people do it, and consequently more people are doing it irresponsibily. I really don't think it will ever become socially acceptable to the point where it becomes a normal occurence of everyday life.

I agree with you for the most part though. It's not like you have to keep the sound completely in your car at all times no matter what, just be responsible when doing it. If it's in the middle of day and you're driving to work, feel free to blast it, thats why we spend so much money. I think there are only a few aspects of bumping responsibily:

1) Keep the windows up

2) Sound deadening

3) Don't bump loud in residential neighborhoods

4) Don't bump loud late at night.

I think pretty much all of our views can be expressed with this, from the BCAE site:

As most of you have noticed, the noise ordinances have become much tougher lately. Most of this is due to idiots, yes IDIOTS, who drive through residential areas with their windows down while their system is playing at full power. To make things worse, the music they listen to has all sorts of foul language that's not suitable for small children, (who may be playing outside). There are even a few people, who are even beyond idiot status, that play their systems at full power through residential areas after 10:00 PM (when many people go to bed). I don't believe that this type of behavior is good for the industry. If the fines get too stiff, people will stop buying large systems. If this happens, more people will get out of car audio (who wants a mediocre system). People get interested in things because they're exciting. A deck and four 6.5" speakers are not going to interest many of the younger car audio enthusiasts. If car audio enthusiasts keep annoying more and more people, the fines will keep getting tougher. All of this will only reduce interest in the equipment that fuels the industry. If you want to listen to your system at full volume, get out on the highway where there's little chance of bothering anyone. When you get to a red light, turn it down. If the only thing attractive about you is your 'system', you have some work to do. Bottom line... Think about what you're doing. Think about other people. It's not the end of the world if you have to turn the volume down for a little while.

Great discussion people but I must say that there is a time & a place for everything & that includes bumping ur music. As much as you may want to bump your favorite song in the middle of the night coming home riding through your hood its really not the time & the place to do so. Most of us car audio enthusiasts are young or young minded so we must look @ it from all aspects of the situation. I dont have a problem with people bassing there music anytime of the night but thats because of my personal reasons probably because I like to "name that tune" when I hear it, but thats just me I cant speak for older catz. But I know how my parents feel about heavy hitting bass & they speak for a good majority of old people(being that old people disagree with a lot of things us young people do). So like someone said earlier in the post bass your music repsonsibly thats all in a nutshell. But every now & again I do get the urge to blast my music when my fav. joint comes on. I know yall feel me on that one. Peace

If you are actually listening to music with bass in it and it happens to be loud I dont mind at all. I think it's good to see another car audio guy out there. HOWEVER, back in the postings someone was talking about playing bass or just Pumping competition subs to the max. That is stupid and annoying. There is a kid in my town with 2 15" Audiobahn's that are loud as hell and all he does is drive through town all day with his windows down playing Bass Test songs with no music.....Just simply bass to its max. That is annoying and I wish I could take a bat to his car everyday. However there are others that actually listen to music with loud bass and I dont mind in the least. Just my thoughts.

wo what your saying is im old ???? heh....j/k....im only 21 tho.......

Sounds like we are all in agreement that bumpin responsibly is the thing to do, but it's the other like 70 %(est.) that feel it's "cool" to go rollin up the same ****in street playing their music to the max. I just laugh at them because I know that's lame and they probably don't even know what an audiophile is.

Side note, is it wrong to show off to your buddies in the middle of the afternoon? Not for long periods, but just enough to see your install at full potential? What about playing it lud for tuning and working on your dbs?
