Bass boost or no bass boost, whats your setup?

if I want to be able to turn the bass down with the bass knob, and put it back to the proper setting afterwards, could I set the gains with the bass boost all the way up so I can turn the bass knob down to remove bass, and turn it back up all the way to get full power?

NO! I did this a long time ago and i ended up blowing a fuse. If you set the gain high it will output HIGH! even if you turn bass boost down it is still set high.

i had my gain at 90 and i set the bass boost low and i blew my fuse on the power wire.. i didnt have a bass knob, i was just turning the bass down from the deck to way lower.

well I wanted to set the gains with the bass knob all the way up so im getting full power only when knob is turned up.

that way I could use the knob to turn down bass and turn it all they way back up to be exactly at full power.

Bass boost is ghey, forget that it ever existed.

This man speaks the truth seriously. A properly match gain is all you will ever need, instead of that big peak boost around what ever frequency the bass boost is at.

I admit, years ago when I was much younger, I loved it. But as I got older and got a better understanding of car audio, I found it useless if your going for a nice clean sound.

i have heard that on some amp the bass knob acts as a gain. Whatever you set your gains at on the amp , the max on the knob is there, so basically you can only turn the gains down not up.

I just want an easy way to turn down the gain on the bass from the front of the car and I want to be able to put it right back to max power from up front too.

Setting gains via DMM is ok for a burping setup but is totally useless for a daily. You will get different readings for different sources, songs etc so it is inconsistant to say the least. It might give you a ballpark figure but that is it. The best way to adjust an amp is by an experienced ear, fact.... Polo.
