Just thought id ask you guys what are your thoughts on bass boost and what your setup is. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I personally dont use any bass boost at all. I run the gain at about 60% ( dont know how to properly tune the gain with dmm ) and bass boost at 0 on amp and deck.

I like to have the bass as clean as possible.

Is bass boost good or bad, what do you guys think?

well for tuning gains with a dmm its simple just read the gain setting sticky get a dmm download a test tone for subs say 50hz unhnook uour subs from the amp hook the dmm up to the amp and play the test tone and match the volts with the watts that you are wanting to get the amp to put out its simple

and for my bass boost i dont really use it much if my setting for gain on my dmm needs to be 21.2 i usually use the bass boost for .1 to just to get the right volt but .1 isnt much really at all

Thanks for explaining that king ranch, i have my DMM, so i want to play a test tone, your example 50hz. I use the dmm to see the volts comming from the amp to the speaker wires that would normally go to my amp. Now say i wanted to give 500w RMS to my sub, how many volts would i look for?

Wattage = E^2 / R.

So Take wattage.

500w

Times it by your resistance you plan to run amp at.

Let's say 2 Ohms.

1000w

Now Square root of 1000 = 31.6v.

ok so you want to set your gain to 44.7 with the dmm while playing a 50hz test tone

make sure to unhook your subs from the amp and put your dmm on 200 volt setting

ok so with my calcs.. 500w x 4 = 2000 and the sqrt of that is 44.7213595

so 44.7 volts is what im looking for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sweet..

also you can use your dmm to read the ohm on the sub just touch pos to pos and neg to neg to see if you have a 4ohm load going to the amp for sure just put the dmm on the ohm position
