bass blockers

i have a alpine cda-9827 with alpine r speakers 6 by 9's and a l7 but i was wondering if bass blockers would help decrease the distortion coming out of the speakers at high volumes rather than buyin a speaker amp. i keep my bass on my headunit all the way down

would this help at all?

what kind of bass blockers?

Bass blockers are used to keep lower frequency sounds from playing through speakers. I don't see how it would help in your case. Amping speakers will give you a great deal more of power, there is really no substitute.

The alpine type r's already come with passive crossovers, so that would be pointless.
usually those would only separate highs from lows, to the tweeter and woofer. Bass blockers are highpass x-overs designed to not allow frequencies below a certain level to reach the woofer, effectively bandpassing the woofer. Although I'm not familiar with the type R x-overs...
