basket in box or outside of box????

i just got 4 15" tempests and im puttin em in a sealed box....i wanna have two with the baskets in the box firing towards the roof and two with the baskets outside the box so you can see them firing into the box......

(as opposed to all 4 with the baskets in the box firing towards the roof)

will i lose alot of loudeness if i did it with the 2 baskets outside the box?

In theory subs put out just as much bass from behind as they do from the cone. Plus it looks cool!

I agree you don't loose much loudness if any at all plus it looks cool so go for it and if you don't like it you can always flip them back around

Inverting a subwoofer doesn't change the way it sounds IF you make sure the subwoofer remains in phase (ie pushing air rather than pulling). To do this, you can either wire it backwards at the amp (+ to - and - to +) or if you have a crossover or other signal processor that supports reverse phasing, just use that and wire it normally.
