There was a test done, and I'm sure TaylorFade can confirm, they actually help for short burps. They didn't do so well for daily, or longer runs.

Caps actually discharge much faster than batts helping burps. Plus some organizations don't limit caps. To make a difference you need a lot of farads so it can easily cost more than batts. Only good for people chasing tenths.

Not necessarily. There are lots of them on ebay (used) for a very good price. 2 cap banks will destroy any single battery on a burp.
