Balanced input stage...Need help.

So, as soon as I decide to sell my 8053 (almost sold) and go with my New Nak CD500 I find out that the 2 US Amps 700T's I just bought require "a balanced input stage". I called US Amps tech support (very friendly BTW). He said all I needed to do was wrap some wire around the Negative (if I remember correctly) RCA and ground it to chassis. First of all, is this true, and 2nd how does doing this make an unbalenced interconnect balanced? And, is there any "more elegant" way do do this. I'm set on using my Nak so any info regarding this would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Just an FYI I'm running first through a DCX-730----->amps. Don't think this makes a difference but thought it worth mentioning.

Unbalanced cords have a signal path and a ground/shield. Balanced cords have a signal path, an inverted signal path, and a ground/shield. When a component uses a 2-conductor cable for a balanced signal, it needs a ground. The wire you are adding acts as the ground. As I understand it, the reason there are two signal paths is to cancel out interference. At the component, the inverted signal is switched back around and the two signals are added together. Any noise or interference that was introduced along the signal path will be, theoretically, cancelled out now. If I'm wrong somewhere, I'm sure someone here can correct me.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like your right, at least from what I've been reading. However I still don't quite understand the whole thing but that's cool. I do way to much thinking and not enough installing my system. I think I should just get my arss out there and put my shnizit together....

One question though. I have IXOS RCA 700 (at least that's what it says on the wires. It is basically three braided wires, 2 blue, 1 white terminating into a metal RCA end. Now from what I know, an RCA cable connot be "balanced", but there are 3 wires too each RCA end? Dunno.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
