Badd ground ? what do bad grounds do?

yes it does and i hear a lil more distortion

It sounds like your going thru what a lot of others including myself have dealt with, there is a protection circuit in the x-over for the tweeters it is kicking in if you want I can tell you what it looks like and what to do to stop it from kicking in.

 
ok it's called a polyswitch it's round thin and has two wires coming off it going into the circuit board on the x-over you can either remove it and solder in a solid piece of wire or an even easier way another member pointed out that he did pull gently up on it and carefully give it a couple twist as to twist the to legs together once this is done you have a tweeter setup with no protection circuit now to make sure you don't damage the tweeters set the x-over to -6db or as low as the will allow on the attenuation settings. All your problems should now be gone!
