Bad static..

So I have a DEH-P6800MP, and its been getting really bad static. It skips like a scratched up cd, and is just overall staticy. I get this while listening to the radio (fm) and also with my zune (hooked up to the front aux port). I still haven't checked it while playing a cd though. Why am I gettin so much static, is the head unit messed up ???

btw.. My bro took his subs/amp outa my car, and he left the wire connected to the battery, but its taped up... idk if that makes a dif or not.

maybe noise from rca's if your usin em. is it engine noise? meaning does the pitch change when the rpms increase? bad grounds and signal degredation is about the only things i can think of.

lol I get the engine noise sometimes when I have my zune plugged in with the aux cable... but I get the static even when its not plugged in. I'm gonna check the ground tomorrow, thanks for the help.
