Bad Preouts?

OK...I have been fighting this for 3 months now and I am breaking down and asking for help.

Current set up

-Alpine x305s HU

-Alpine Din Mount (center channel)

MB Quart PVL215 (front)

JBL MS-8 Processor

JBL MS-A1004 to front components bi-amped

Alpine PDX-4 bridged to center turned down bridged to subwoofer

SSA Dcon 12

I recently put in the center channel and the Dcon with the PDX and when I did, all of the sudden my whole right side dropped off...it gets really quite and has aweful engine whine with a faint static. Then out of no where it will be fine, the slowly fade in and out all of the time. So I switched my RCA from the HU to the processor so that left and right swapped. Now the drop off is on the left side. So I said to myself, ok bad RCA cable. Replaced the RCA, now the left is dropping off.... but its set up like the way it was when the right was dropping off. Are the front RCA preouts on my x305 shot? Has anyone ever had a problem like this?

this is a test when one side doesn't work. the X indicates what is bad adn the ))) indicates teh working speaker

likely - you have an open circuit somewhere in the signal chain. the open circuit could be a broken RCA lead (in gear or in cables).

Thanks bud, Yeah I have pretty much done these things...or at least what I think you mean by these figures lol, switching sides on the HU and the processor and narrowed it down to the HU, I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had a problem like this from Alpine. I'm going to be giving them a call tomorrow about the warranty

Look into buying a long cheap rca and an rca to 3.5 mm just for issues like this

That way u can easily pull out the head unit and plug I am the new rca then just run it straight to the amp no tucking or hiding

Also use the 3.5 to rca and directly plug In a phone or ipod to test if it is the rca

If it's neither then it very well may be the headunit

I actually have both of those cables on hand and dont know why I didnt plug the 3.5 into the processor to see, but I did run different cables and the problem still continued, also hooked up the cables I had in the vehicle originally a bench I have at home and it didnt seem to have the slightest problem. I have a feeling the solder joint from the RCA shield to the board broke and makes connection every so often, but I don't want to open it myself and completely void my warrenty
