Hey guys hows it going.
So recently my car was worked on and the dealership left the trunk cracked for some reason and the interior of my trunk got a little wet. I noticed the amp was a little damp so I set it out to dry before testing things out.
After everything was dry I hooked it up and everything worked fine. One day, however, I started up my car and my sub was not hitting. I went back, opened the trunk and noticed the sub was hitting but not hard at all, and sounded terrible, almost like a putter. I turned everything off because the amp smelt like it was burning.
After a few days, I tried hooking everything up again. The same sub sound, the light hitting/puttering was there again. I busted out the multimeter and went to town.
The amp turns on, the green light comes on and none of the error LED's light up. I checked and there is 12+V going into the amp. The outputs of the amp are putting out 1.2 - 3.1 ohms when I run the amp, however I am not able to get a voltage reading. When I hook up the sub, it does not hit anymore. Instead, it makes a low humming noise. If I push on the sub, it sounds like it is humming or buzzing even more. It seems like it wants to work, its just not getting enough power.
I am afraid the water finally got the best of the amp, which caused a bunch of problems. Needless to say, everything worked fine before the dealership incident.
I am open to suggestions and am willing to try anything, really just trying to narrow it down to the sub or the amp.
Thanks for your time,
Rob
sorry if this is a repost I was told to take it here
