I have a Iraggi 220 amp alt, its 175 at idle (advertised). With no system hooked up to my car and having my main battery as a stinger sp 1700 (about a year old, took some wear and tear) im only getting an idle voltage at 14.1 volts. Should I go get the alt tested? I tried butting a long charge on the battery and that did not help. could it be a bad battery? Bad alt? Thanks

well Im guessing this battery is under the hood, I would expect more from an HO alt under 6ft of cable right? I thought them things hit in the 15-16v range so close.

I get right on 14.6 at the alt with my 200A from Nathan, and I am more than satisfied...

14.1 volts is nothing I would complain about.

And no, they wont hit 15-16v unless it was made to reach that kind of voltage.

i have the big three done. also some times when i am stopped at a light with the music off (on cell phone) my volt meter (on dash, OEM) drops down to like 12 and my head lights and the ones on the dash dim down. its been happening more. 1999 Tahoe.

Okay, now that would be a problem. Possibley a regulator problem...

Is the regulator part of the alt or where is that located? i should know this (my dad owns a body shop) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

depends. some alts use the car's regulator, like mean-green and others have a built in regulator or even external regulator. maybe you aren't producing enough rpm's at an idle. try kicking up your idle.

the alt is from Iraggi, i think my car idle at about 650 rpm...is it possible that some that else from the car (OEM, stock) could be drawing too much power or leaking power? thanks
