Background checks

BULLSHIT! It does me no good to live life by the rules and watch those that don't get away with it because I didn't say anything. In fact it hurts me in the way of higher insurance premiums, higher prices of merchandise, etc. People who live by the "Don't snitch" rules are criminals and thats why it's their motto.
X2... well put

if i knew i could of sued i would of done that a long time ago. and who says i can't now? People sue for stupid stuff all the time and its way later. but yeah they never asked my permission to record anything. So why wouldn't I be able to sue them now, win a crap load of money since its been 5 years and they have kept me out of working this whole time. Sounds about right. right?

And as for the "stupid" commenets, there was 3 dudes telling me that if i dont do this and that bad $hit is gonna happen, and this being my first time in any kind of trouble with the law, since i ain't no kind of trouble maker like that, didn't no the first thing to do. So i just did what seemed like the easy way out and what they told me was the easy way out. But unfortonatly they were lying there ***** off the whole time.

And even worse, if you actually did want to sue and it was feasible, the statute of limitations has probably passed already.

Like Gauntlet said...depends on what actually you allege they did as to when you can and can't sue them. Statute of limitations is a *****.

The biggest problem to me, from what you've said, is that you actually handled the stolen merchandise. They could have booked you on receiving stolen items if they wanted to be picky about it. If I was an employer, and was confronted with the situation of an employee bringing stolen items to me, but wouldn't divulge any more names to me, who would I suspect actually did it?

Think about the situation from the perspective of the people that hold the reigns here.

yeah i understand what all of you guys are saying but when this happened it was my first job and was 5 years younger and if i had of known then what i know now i guarentee things would of went ALOT differently. But i didnt know these things then so i guess like skierxx5556 said: live and learn i guess. I haven't done anything like that since, not that i did wrong in the first place except make a stupid mistake that i didnt think was to bad because i didn't know crap about the law when it came to something like that. So i guess i have lived and learned form that incident. The only problem i have is why does that show up on every background check even tho it wasn't a conviction.

You weren't convicted, but you still went through the legal system and are in the NCIC. It will show up in background checks just as if you were convicted. But I'm pretty sure there's a law that will stop non-convictions from being reported after seven years, don't quote me though.

Well i got good news. The place that i applied at the i was awaiting the background check called me back and offered me the job. So everything is cool. im happy now lol. But im still looking to see if there is anything that i can do about that being on my record

I have called lawyers offices. they always put me thru to there machine. i leave a brief message about whats going on and they never call back. and yes i leave my phone number lol

Well only read the 1st page. But I know that I applied for a corrections officer job once and I would have gotten in at a starting rate of 15.10/hr. So I was pretty excited about it and then I get a letter in the mail saying because I went bankrupt a year prior that they could not hire me. Have you recently gone bankrupt? Backround checks are good and bad. I guess they thought I would steal from the crimminals or something lol!

i didnt go bankrupt. I was just stupid about 5 years ago and was working at a retail store and thought i was stealing stuff but i wasnt but i knew who did. i brought the stuff back from the person who took it and they made me sign a paper saying that i was the one who stole it while thretening me the whole time.

And i have been calling criminal lawyers and expungment specialist
