I have 1000 watts RMS at 1 ohm, been out of car audio for a couple years.

My last sub was an eD 13av.2 in their slot ported enclosure, I loved it!

Im looking for something with great response and SQ but I also want it to get pretty decently loud also.

This could be one 12", 2 12", or maybe one 15"

Sorry I missed some details, no budget.

But this will be going in the trunk of an Evo X so something that performs in a "smaller" sealed enclosure would probably be best. No room for a 3-6 cubic foot ported enclosure.

One other thing to mention is I would prefer lighter weight since I road race this car.

tc sounds would be great for a small ported enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its on clearance at the end of the year its a quad 1 ohm coil and just a low end monster, one would be perfect on 1k and amazing sound quality. normally a 500 dollar sub

another option to look at are two sa-8's i have seen amazing systems with these 2 monsters

SSA Store - Sundown Audio SA-8 Subwoofer

WoofersEtc.com - SA-8 D4 - Sundown Audio 8" Dual 4-Ohm SA Series Subwoofer

this is the v1 model

and the dual box you would only need around 1.5 cube tuned to 30 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Boston Acoustics SPG555 2 13" Car Subwoofer JBL GTO 1001EZ Monoblock Amplifier 690283382889 | eBay

this is also an amazing deal if you sell your current 1 ohm amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i loved my spg subs small boxes and get really loud and sound amazing

buy a spg555-tr

WoofersEtc.com - SPG-TR - Boston Acoustics 10" Tunable Radiator for use with SPG555 Subwoofer

have to order it direct from boston parts they have them

you can then place the sub in a 1 cube box with radiator and allows you to tune the box at 30/35/40

and would be the lightst as its a neo magnet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and smallest box

So that quad 1.2 ohm setup would let me run each 2 could in series to get 2.4 ohms on two wires, then parallel those to get a 1.2 ohm load on my amp correct? I've never messed with or even heard of quad coil lol.

yes quad 1.2 would run 2 in series and then in parallel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, how do you feel about the 15Q1? I see it's 1.1 cu ft sealed and about the same price, 1000RMS as well. Looks to be the same motor etc.
same i think the 12" rec's are wrong. you can actually buy the basket and motor seperate and swap them around with just bolts. Id rather have a 12 ported vs a 15 sealed. i think the 12 ported would be around 1.7 cube at around 32hz iirc.

for a 15 sealed 1.5 ft net per sub (I recommend putting 2 pounds of polyfill to had a little bit more low end and get a 1-2 decibel gain along with lowering the Otc but thats just me you don't have too)

for a 15 ported 2.8 ft net per sub tuned anywhere from 28-35 hz depending on personal preference with either 2 4" aeros or 1 6"

for a 12 sealed 0.8 ft net per sub (use 1 pound of polyfill which is optional)

for a 12 ported 1.3 ft net per sub tuned anywhere from 28-35hz with 3 3" aeros or 1 6" or 1 5"

Im looking at doing a 12Q1 in a ported enclosure. When you say net cu ft, are you saying that my enclosure should be 1.3 cu ft without the sub installed? Or are you telling me to make it 1.3 cu ft of airspace with the sub installed in the enclosure? I may have to do 3 3" Aero ports with the area Im working with, where would I purchase those? Also do I need to account for the airspace the ports will take up? Im just confused by the term net I guess.

Thanks for all the help!
