Is this stuff any good? I searched but can't find much on it. I'm looking for some cheap deadener and I can get this for about $1.00/ft shipped. Opinions?

It's asphalt based, I would steer clear of it.

If Asphalt Deadener A is $1 per square foot, and Butyl Deadener B is 3$ per square foot - unless Deadener B is three times as good as Deadener A, I don't see a reason to spend the extra money.

i don't either. my edead seems to do the job so i don't know what's wrong with it. aren't we just adding weight to the layers to stop vibrations?

Depending on your weather, and other variables, the difference could be replacing your deadner from every 2 years to every 5 years.

RAAMmat is far cheaper than $3/sq. ft...more like $1.7-9/sq. ft.

I see more people promoting raammat than SS. I was gonna get some damplifier pro in the GB, but its still quite a bit more than the bxt, so I doubt I will //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

RAAMmat is not butyl, it's an asphalt / butyl mix. Also, does that include shipping?

Anyway, today I had the task of ripping out all the polyfill in my trunk lid. I had used it as a way of deadening in place of expanding foam. It was a temporary thing I did back in November. Well, the cheap spray on deadener / P&S combo I had used held surprisingly well in the cold. In fact, the asphalt part of the P&S has been tearing before it let go of the trunk lid. I realize it's only been on there for 2 months, but that's not bad for cheap asphalt deadener.

Should I ever go out and do a full deadening of my car, I will definitely use RAAMmat. I've decided on that since ever. For now, I still have like 10 square feet of P&S that I need to use before I move on.
