Not really. AWD is always on, but it's not necessarily locked center diff. The ratio can be 60%/40% to the rear or otherwise. It's pretty much the same as 4WD, all 4 weels get power all the time, but how much will vary with AWD. 4WD is locked (usually), with a 50/50 distribution ratio and probably doesn't always have traction control like AWD almost always does.

And AWD doesn't have the low gears that 4wd does. The low gears are a necessity.

That is correct. And 4WD can be turned off to 2WD either manually or electronically.

As tempting as it would be I would give the thing a bit more break in time before blasting along at 105. I'm sure if you took your time getting up to that speed it wouldn't be all that bad but a brand new vehicle does need a little bit of break in time, specially something as complicated as that with a turbo and AWD.

Dude. I am NOT kidding LOL. I didn't believe it myself. But the guy didn't have radar on, so I don't know what he would bring to court. He just saw me fly past him and was friggin' yelling and cussing at me when he pulled me over. My girl was in the passenger seat hiding my detector thinking it might look bad (even though it's not illegal) and was getting ready to bail me out of jail. It was seriously crazy. The cop told me that patrol was on their way to haul me off. The ONLY reason he let me off is because I told him I was on my way to pick up my young son and he saw the car-seat in the back. He didn't say so, but I know that's why. He just said "enjoy your kid and cut that sheet out!" Dayum!!!

If I had pulled you over doing 105mph and your excuse was going to pick up your son you'd be in jail right now. No way Id let you off with the thought in my head that you might drive the same way with your kid in the car.

Dang you did get lucky, honestly I probably would have had the opposite reaction lol. For me it all depends on the situation I have been a passenger in a car doing over 150, sadly 105 doesn't feel all that fast for me specially when many times I have been in bumper to bumper 85-90mph commuter traffic. Just keep it slow with your kid in the car. Otherwise enjoy the ride. Thats kinda what I was figuring. Its not really the speed (except for the driveline components) but how hard you push the motor. i believe it. I was with a buddy of mine in a 350Z. A cop got him going at about 120, pulled him over, blah blah blah. The driver simply asked him to see proof (the numbers on the radar gun), and the cop didnt have him clocked, so therefor, could not write him a ticket because it wouldnt hold up in court

so, instead, he gave him a ticket for not having a front license plate (required in WA)

Everytime Ive ever been pulled over Ive been ticketed. Ive even had one for 3 mph over, but it was a school zone. Each and everyone I deserved. I however have never been ticketed fro going faster then 85mph, nor do I drive faster then that. That was 25mph over and the cop said he would write it up as 84mph so I didnt get impouded and taken to jail.

I just think its retarded that you got off with a verbal warning.
