im sure someone has the extra time to look up the whole story right now, i dont.. maybe tonight long story short- why would tangband (a huge international company, and a well respected one at that) steal a design that ben milne supposedly "sketched on a napkin over lunch/dinner"? does that make any sence to you?

If i remember right- ED went to tangband, asked em to desgn/make a slim sub, they said ok, BUT you have to gauruntee XX amount of sales OR pay for the tooling, ben said no, and took the prototype to another build house and had em copy it..

The whole ED copying other woofers thing is a good and a bad thing. It would be good if the woofers he stole/mimicked performed as well if not better than the originals, while being less expensive than the originals. The bad thing... well I cant really think of it right now, as I lost my train of thought due to severe A.D.D..

But yeah, as far as I'm concerned, unless they end up shutting ED down, the copying of woofers is just competition; free enterprise.

while i see your point, please think of it this way.. tangband/jl spent ALOT of money/time designing these things for specific purposes. for ed to copy that is unethical (not to mention illegal)... by your logic- someone could steal your stereo and its ok "free enterprise".. you worked hard designing your system. how is it ok for someone to just take it?

Good 'ole Mr Milne.

His absolutely stellar CS skills and award-winning salesmanship have left him the lucky recipient of tons of people waiting in the wings more than happy to kick him when he's down.

I've never had any direct dealings with eD and have never run any of their products so I have nothing invested in him or his company one way or the other.

It sure makes for interesting reading from time to time, though!

I have to agree, it not right but it is "free enterprise". It happens all the time, look at the major fast food companies, they bite of each other all the time.

I understand competiveness, (sorry for the spelling!) but at the same time, it looks like ED just does things very dirty IMO.
