Awesome deal for speakers

I got a set of JBL Stage floorstanding speakers for $160 from Best Buy on clearance, normal price was $400 for the pair. They sound pretty good, especially for the price, definitely not as good as my B&Ws, but good none the less. They are going in our basement for now and may be bought off of me by my brother once he starts working for the basis of a decent, cheap stereo.

Maybe it's because I cannot stand modern floorstanding loudspeakers from the likes of Klipsch, JBL, KLH and others. Their older MONSTER speakers are still used today and sound so much better. Century L100T anyone?

You can say that about a lot of manufactures, doesn't mean that these are horrible. Sound quality is subjective after all...Accuracy of reproduction is a whole new ball game..
160 for 3 ways is a **** good deal in my book...commercially made or not...

That is very true that a lot of their older designs sound better. But, today's market is a lot different than the markets of the past. The speakers linked I agree would never suffice for my personal usage however for some people they might be perfect. Not everyone lives by the same standards. Which is what makes HI-FI, Home Theater, and music so much fun. As long as you aren't on a high horse commanding others to do something, people usually aren't too wrong. People know their standards and should get something that they are happy with. A lot of Car Audio guys would be very happy with something like those JBL's. Many would have to add a subwoofer, but for the HF & MF those would do just fine.

Indeed. SQ is totally subjective. But, accuracy is something that can be quantified which is different. When it comes down to it at the end of the day numbers are just numbers and you can't put a number on happiness a product causes. Even if those products are something silly.
