Avic n1 and ipod

I have three questions,

1. Ive read that the ipod interface sucks for the n1 and was wondering if i could simply hookup the ipod to the brain via audio input cord and control from the ipod?

2. Does anyone have any experience with calibrating the screen, the left side buttons don't seem to work and I can't scroll through mp3s that way.

3. Also the motor is getting kind of weak and wont close without a little help, where should I take this to get fixed?
