average remote start/alarm install price?

ok.. so my mother wants to get me a remote start kit for my car installed at a local shop for $400 for christmas.. she heard the add on the radio and went in the shop to check it out..she said all they told her was remote start, which i really dont need as much as i do a nice alarm.. im not sure if the Alarm is included or a separate entity altogether.. but i would like to get my own nice alarm/remote start combo and have them install that..whic i think should be cheaper...

I found a nice kit on ebay for 150shipped, so, would this come out cheaper than $400 after install?

My mom works with the shop owner's dad at a College.. he is a dean, she is head of financial aid.. PLUS all the guys at the shop know me by name from their local carshows and comps.. even tho i have never bought from them, we are cool.. i know the whole staff by name and swing by from time to time to chat, but we have never talked prices..

i dont know that sounds like alot . i know i can get it all done for like 225.00 out the door . i went in to this shop cuz they had somthing goin where it was like 129.99 and i find out it was like close to 300.00 out the door. they where like cuz u have this car and we have to do this and that it will b more. u need to see what there doin and sh it. do it your self???

I was looking into this a couple of days ago. I'm probably going to get the Viper 5901 ($200 on amazon). I called 3 different shops, only one carried it and said it would be $600 for the system+install. The other two said $230 and somewhere around $250-300 for the installation.

Ive read about people getting it done for really cheap, ~150. But w/e Ill fork over the 250 bucks and save myself a headache.

i kinda trust these guys.. she'll check the out the kit features tomorrow and standard install price on one brought in.. i could prolly even get their lead installer to do it on the side if i called him..

also, if its too high i will just get a AP18001d instead. i already have a factory alarm that works just fine

factory alarm is only so good. Its always better to upgrade as you can add better sensors and what not onto the alarm

i got a remote stater and alarm installed at local shop. it was 400 installed, bought from them. has life time warranty. i was not going to mess with it me self. and the alarm is nice i really only wanted remote start so the alarm is a +.

depends, dont try to **** with remote start yourself in a new magnum.... I used to work at a shop and remote starts on those are a ***** so if youve never ****ed with a newer vehicle you might fry the computer...

umm i see em go like a viper for around anywhere from 250-799 installed out the door, the 799 is like you can roll ur windows down with ur remote and start your car with ur iphone and such though.

btw alarms with keyless entry/remote starts arent the easiest to install either, wiring diagrams for vehicles are hard to get ahold of sometimes, its alot of work. especially when u get to clipping/hiding wires and stuff with all of that. it can easily fry stuff...

i got my excalibur alarm installed for 150 and if i go back to get the remote start installed it's only 50 (best buy)

Remote start with keyless entry are what most shop sell for 129 which may also require some sort of modal dEpending on the vehicle which adds to the cost slightly. But remote start with alarm is a whole different story. Most time its in the area of 350/400 and go up fROm there. I suggest letting some one qualified do the job its worth the money. And they come with lifetime parts and install warranty.

Some of the dodges are very hard, have to pull the switch and solder inside it. not sure if the magnum is one of them or not.

Also you get what you pay for when it comes to alarms and remote starts buy the better models.

I paid $190 for the Clifford Matrix 50.5x remote start/alarm and $250 to get it installed.

Really great product and investment.
