Avalanche 4 12s Blowthrough

My other thread had like 3 different builds in it, so Ill just make this one with the most up to date crap. Its a 2002 Avalanche. 8 10" Eminence Delta mids, 6 Selenium ST350 tweeters, 4 Kicker CVR 12s. I run a Pioneer 880PRS active to control everything. The active crossovers are a lifesaver with the highs I have. I dont know how people do big doors without it.

I have a big Lanzar 700x2 on the mids. It does 950 x 2 @ 2ohm, and Im seeing just over 1ohm per channel since the speakers are actually 5ohm, not 8, so should be around 2k on the mids. Im using a Massive Audio NX4 on the tweeters. Just running the front half of the amp now, but Im swapping my tweeters from 6 Seleniums to 8 DB Drive bullet tweeters because the DB Drives sound way better. on the subs I have a Massive Audio N4. Its does 2krms @ 1ohm.

Doors.

Center console. Originally had 10 mids, but the 2 firing straight up killing the soundstage. Made it sound like all the sound came from the front right corner of the dashboard. I dont have any real "imaging" to speak of as it is (obviously), but those made it unbearable for me. Just threw the imaging off way too far. New console coming soon.

Size comparison of my Massive N4 (for the subs) on top, compared to the monster powering my doors.

Carpeted a piece of wood to mount amps too. The really tiny black amp is the Massive NX4 for my tweets. I could fit 4 of them inside the case of my Lanzar.

Box without a port.

Battery rack.

First port. Sounded great. Tuned at 40hz. Really low for a bandpass. Peaked at 29hz legal. Was 122in^.

New port. Its 80in^ tuned at 30hz. Plays retarded low. The truck plays nasty in the teens and low 20s.

Did some metering with the new, smaller port. I never play the truck sealed up, so I didnt even meter it that way. I designed the truck to have loud *** doors so I can open the truck up and play the crap out of slowed down music. Low bass with vocals you can feel in the ground. Thats exactly what it does. So these numbers are on the dash with the drivers door open. 4 CVR 12s on the Massive N4 2kw amp @ 1ohm.

141.9 @ 24hz.

142.7 @ 26hz.

Was still around a 138.x in the 15hz range.

I took these videos with my phone and emailed them to myself, then hosted on Photobucket. That explains the crappy quality. I was playing a song with both windows down that hovers in the 23-27hz range.





This is where Im at now. Debating on upgrading to some real subs and doubling power (4krms total), or doubling my highs, getting another Lanzar and running 8 more 10s.

If you're looking for lows swap out those CVR's for some Q's and double your power lol

Yeah, I am thinking about getting 4 Ascendant Chaos 12s. Ive ran the Chaos in 15s and 18s a bunch of times and they rock. I can almost hairtrick with both doors open right now, so Im sure if I upgrade subs and double power, it will be a huge gain.
