Well Im going to be doing a stereo for this kid I know. He just wants something that still nice, but not crazy expensive.

I got him set on a ported Fi Q 15 in his Celica GTS. Already have the box designed and whatnot, but now I need to decide on an amp.

I know that Autotek MM series is real strong, but I dont think he wants to spend that much money.... Maybe though.

My question is which of these amps would you run?

The SS1000.1 @ .7 ohm:

The SS1500.1 @ .7 or 1.4 ohms:

The MM1000.1 @ .7ohm:

Do you think Id see more power out of the MM1000.1 than the SS1500.1 @ .7? Those two are only a $10 difference, but Im not sure if either would be worth the $70 price increase for a kid with a stock electrical who just wants to jam out to some Drum n Bass music.

What do you think? Any other options under $250 shipped preferrably?

Well if it was, it isnt anymore. The Mean Machine line is their top end line... As the price shows. Not sure if it would be worth the extra cash though. Gotta keep it as cheap as possible.

Think the MM1000.1 would do more than the SS1500.1?

Or would it be worth it to buy the 1500.1 and run it at 1.4? Just to have the extra headroom and be a little easier on the electrical system. He will get a new battery up front, but probably just a yellowtop of equivelent, so nothing too heavy duty.

I been a die hard Autotek fan since 1995. I buy mean machine amps exclusively. The Mean Machine series has always been Autotek's flagship line. The street Machiine line as been there low line. And the Super Sport line was introduced years later. Ive seen them and they are by no means higher end than the Means's.

If you can afford the Mean's buy the things. ESPECIALLY if there is only a 10 dollar difference.

That SS1500.1 and the MM1000.1 are about dead equal for power output.

In a direct swap, you shouldn't notice a different.

(But, if memory serves...the SS have a lower noise floor)

We just got a big order of SS1500's in at the shop and are making crazy deals on them.

Pretty nice lil amps.

I have been running a SM briged @ 2ohm since 98 in the wifes car and had no probs with it so I would think that the higher lines would be better. It still pushes a punch 15(before the series1) fairly well. LOL
