Autotek MM4000.1 going into protect... wtf

did u say u checked the AC voltage on the channels?? power supply could be gone. thats what happened to the first 802sx i had. was in protect and no output. hope its a easy fix bro.
I havent checked anything yet, still gotta buy a DMM. Will it still read AC voltage even though its in protect?

I don't think so, cause it's not sending anything to the sub which means no voltage from the channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You most likely blew one or both channels or if your lucky you just vibrated a resistor off the board.

Almost every 4000.1 that I sold from my shop needed servicing at one point or another.

Also depending on where it originally came from it could have been a refurb. Whenever we sent in an amp for warranty they would send back a brand new one. And where do you think those amps that were sent in ended up, yup on ebay or some other closeout site.

Also the RCA inputs brake real easy on a lot of the Autoteks

Hope that helps.

thanks that helps, i checked to see if anything was loose and nothing was, probably blew a channel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Im gonna buy a DMM today after work, and check everything i can that still functions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

checked the subs, every coil reads between 2.4 - 2.5 ohm. I series'd then parallel'd the pair of subs (dual 2) and it read 2.4 ohm so i can rule out the subs.

amp is going to be shipped off to ARC (amplifier repair center) on Monday, will come back with a 90 day warranty, I'm gonna wait and see what the cost is going to be to fix it. I still might sell everything off once it comes back with a warranty

ok.... call me crazy...

I was just reading on the Maxxonics web page... the amp is described as being a MONO amp... so.. even if there are 2 "output" channels that is for ease of use.. but its still only 1 actual channel... so the amp was seeing roughly a .5ohm load... could be the problem since its only rated for 1 ohm... maybe I'm wrong.. but I wouldn't bet against me..
