I have no idea why, It didnt get hot or anything... just went into protect after about 5 seconds on a longer bass note, not even at full volume (probably 90%). I disconnected my HD3's, still goes into protect. i have no clue, very frustrated and ready to give up on everything audio in my truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

any advice/experience on what it could be?

btw, im running a pretty decent electrical system (in my sig) and voltage rarely goes below 13 volts, and this time I know it was above 13volts because i didnt have the volume all the way up. (12.8 volts full tilt)

From what I've experienced those volt meter types tend to be off by .2-.5 volts most of the time, but I've never used a stinger one, maybe they're different.

As for why your going into protect, that's really weird. Usually when amps protect on long notes it's from voltage drop or heat, but you say it was none of those...

I'm gonna think about this, do some searching, see if I find anything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Sorry I couldn't be of more help...yet! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

thanks man, im not completely ruling out voltage or heat, but unlikely because its never gone below 12.8 volts when my truck is running. and i instantly put my hand to it and was barely warm because i had only been playing it for maybe 10 minutes.

yes, instantly goes into protect when powered on. even with no subs/rcas connected to it.
God****it, i had the same problem w/ my American Bass 400.1s this week!

Both stay in protect, and i have the batcap 2000's and alt power to back one... Started beatn it, then NOTHING!!

Maybe the world is revolting against Car Audio users and protecting everybodys amps...
