Where can I buy auto paint for my box. I have a gun and would like to get some higher end paint that is very glossy.....like on pimp my ride etc.

Check out your local yellow pages for autbody supplies . Some will sell to the public some won't. The gloss you see comes from clear coat, and buffing it afterwards //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you can actually get a very glossy pro looking finish wiht rattle cans.

No offense but if you cannot get the prep/finishing with a rattle can then ther eis no point in buying expensive auto paint.

Like ramos said it is all about the prep and after work.

Also i should add that.

Locally you can buy a custom mixed rattle can ($20 canadian) color matched to any code you give the local parts place here. They mix it up in a couple minutes.

Well the fiberglass is as smooth as glass 400 grit etc with zero pinholes. I want that high gloss sparkly type of paint you would see on a lowrider.

hmm the oens we get we mix ourselves. There is a thign ont he side to tell you how much to mix wiht so much clear.

Got half a tub of orange HOK sparkles here... or "flakes" haha

Dupont also has a new line with candys and such i think they also might sell flakes. Call around.

haha yeup

standard flakes - 1 to 3 ounces per quart depending on deisred effet

mini or ultra mini - 2 teaspoons per quart for dark basse,1 ounce per quart for light base

I get all my paint mixed at a place called O'Reillys, i dont think its a nationwide chain, but its like an advance auto or pep boys. There are a lot in kansas.

I think it acutally may end up being cheaper than rattle cans, I can get a pint for around 12 bucks, depending on color of course, and I can paint a couple boxes per pint.

Gallon of clear is around 85 or so, paint many boxes with it. But if you dont use it very much, rattle cans would be cheaper, but in the long run, I think it eventually evens out.
