Knowing that you use $10000 cables can make the music sound better to you... but it's mostly in your head.
Regardless, you can't deny that there is a difference in quality between different brands of cable, but any rational consumer would not be objected to AB-X testing when buying such things. There's a point where each additional $100 per foot no longer makes a difference. And no boradcast or production studios where the audio and video is recorded mixed and mastered buys into claims by companies such as Audioquest or use cable cookers. Yet these are the places where cable runs may be hundreds of feet and where preserving signal quality is of utmost priority. If the studio already ****ed up your signal using "cheap" wire then there would be no way to revive it again even with Nords.

But still -- if they sound better to you, or if you just feel better knowing you own them, then it may just be worth the extra money.

But there is a point of diminishing marginal returns--past this point money is usually better spent in other areas (where the difference may not only be audible, but scientifically measureable as well). Just think before you drop 10 grand on a pair--could this not make a bigger difference elsewhere?

I think this was stated very well.

I can understand that once you get to a certain point of quality/build in a cable... that it gets pretty hard to hear/see the difference...in which you should spend your money elsewhere to acheive such performance. No need to spend 10k on some video cables and put them on a panasonic plasma...makes no sense!

But if you do want the best of the best...and you have the money to dish 10 g's into a pair of cables...then why not?

I have a little setup in my store in which one speaker is being used by el-cheapo basic speaker wire on the left speaker, and on the right speaker is Audioquest Diamond back speaker wire... and switching the balance to left and right without letting the customer know which one is which... they always choose the right side...(Unless they are old as shit...or something)....then they just guess....when someone can acctually choose the right and tell me detail about it...its pretty cool.

I believe this is a difference....but their is a point to which you really NEED to see the difference
