Audioquest

I was just stumbling upon some old info on this forum reguarding "Audioquest" cables and I just wanted to see everyones input on performance compared to el-cheapo wire.

I sell nothing buy audioquest with all of my installs, and from my personal experience I can definately tell a difference between lets say HDMI-A and HDMI-3(Their lowest HDMI cable, and their Highest HDMI cable.)

I have never had a chance to listen to something as good as their "SKY" cables which retail about $1800 per .5 meter, but I have heard their Diamond back(and a couple of others King Cobra, and Copperhead) and based on what I have heard... Their is a difference.

Im guessing people are knocking on it because of the fact that it costs alot more/ that and or the average person "cant" hear the difference, or see the difference, even if you do explain that the higher silver content makes for a better picture.

Church of Cables and Electronics Don't Make A Difference...

Basically everyone who says that you can't hear the difference between amplifiers, pre-amps, CD Players, Cables, or other various audio and video things.

I call it a "Church" because they are so strongly opinioned that it might as well be their faith.

^^Well reguardless... I can understand someone not buying a certain cable because they feel they are not "hearing" or "seeing" that quality for the amount of $$ they are spending...but that doesnt mean that the performance is not there.

Ummm... they're a simple way to PROVE your side...

If it's quite easy to tell the difference... then you should love ABX tests...

I'm not really on one side or the other... I'm on the poor side. I'm not confident that I could pass the ABX tests either, never tried...

Knowing that you use $10000 cables can make the music sound better to you... but it's mostly in your head.

Regardless, you can't deny that there is a difference in quality between different brands of cable, but any rational consumer would not be objected to AB-X testing when buying such things. There's a point where each additional $100 per foot no longer makes a difference. And no boradcast or production studios where the audio and video is recorded mixed and mastered buys into claims by companies such as Audioquest or use cable cookers. Yet these are the places where cable runs may be hundreds of feet and where preserving signal quality is of utmost priority. If the studio already ****ed up your signal using "cheap" wire then there would be no way to revive it again even with Nords.

But still -- if they sound better to you, or if you just feel better knowing you own them, then it may just be worth the extra money.

But there is a point of diminishing marginal returns--past this point money is usually better spent in other areas (where the difference may not only be audible, but scientifically measureable as well). Just think before you drop 10 grand on a pair--could this not make a bigger difference elsewhere?
