audiopulse axis wiring question

i have an axis 15 with dual 2 ohm. right now i have it wired up at around 1.6 ohm (multimeter). that sub os hooked to a aq2200d. for some reason it doesn't seem like there is 2200 watts being used. did i wire it wrong? anyone have any suggestions or wiring diagrams? thanks

u sure urs is dual 2? cause 1.6 after imp rise is 2ohms?

d2 can be wired to 1ohm or 4ohms on a single sub

What you are measuring with your DMM is called the Re (or DCR, the terms are essentially interchangeable). The Re (DCR) is the "Direct Current Resistance" of the voice coil. The DCR is relatively static and is, simply put, the resistance of the coil at rest.

The rated nominal impedance is a different beast. Impedance is the opposition to the flow of alternating current and will vary based on things such as the frequency of the signal the speaker is playing. The "rated" nominal impedance of a speaker is basically an average of what load the speaker will present to the amplifier over it's intended operating range. So while it may be "rated" for an nominal impedance of 2ohm, depending on frequency the actual load presented to the amplifier may be higher (or slightly lower) than 4ohm.....and at the speaker's resonant frequency (Fs) the load could be significantly higher than the rated nominal impedance......30ohm or more depending on the speaker. Impedance also increases as frequency increases due to factors such as inductance.

Most 2ohm speakers will have a DCR in the range of 1.4 - 1.9ohms

take the speaker wires out of the sub and measure each coil independantly and tell me what they read

dj said when the clipping indicator light starts to blink the amp is reaching max power. it blinks alot and the sub is not moving very much.

i think you need to measure your coils independantly....sounds like you have a 4 ohm sub

the only coil configurations the axis comes in is dual 2 ohm or quad 4 ohm. i got the dual 2.
