Audiopipe AP-15001D Bench Tested for RMS Power Output

Here are the results for the APSM1500....(this may hurt)

All at 14v, verified resistive loads @40Hz, 1% THD:

2 ohms = 41V RMS, 75A current = 840.5W @ 80% efficiency

1.1 ohm = 32.5V RMS, 121A current = 960.2W @ 57% efficiency

(the current numbers above were taken from the power wire going into the amp, not at the speaker terminals. I was testing current draw of the amp, the DD-1 and Fluke 85III True RMS meter handled the V RMS and 1% THD duties)

Based on the 1.1 ohm results (and the dramatically decreased efficiency), I didn't test the amp at 0.5 ohms. Not to mention it was a loaner and I didn't want it to go up in smoke...

These results prove Audiopipe's literature is correct when they say the AP-15001D is the "premium" model //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

I have no affiliation with Audiopipe or any other manufacturer. I mainly test old school amps, decided to buy an AP-15001D a month or so ago just to see if it stood up to the hype. Although it didn't do "rated", I was still impressed w/ the price/performance ratio. After testing the AP-15001D, several people complained the APSM1500 was the "real" 1500w amp from Audiopipe...uh, I don't think so!

This was a bench test with 40Hz test tones and wirewound power resistors. I didn't test the amp with speakers, in my car, or the like. It was provided optimal conditions with a constant 14V power source capable of 200A, short runs of dual 4GA, combined into a single 4G less than 18" from the amp's power inputs.

It is what it is, can't dispute scientific fact, although I'm sure some will try...

Big thanks to Russ for agreeing to send me the mini APSM1500 so we could find the truth!

BigD Thanks for testing that for me now I know exactly where I am with that amp. I plan on putting it in my sons car (99 Impreza wagon)on 2 older 15 inch RF p2's @ 2ohms should be real decent boom for the $.
