I couldn't resist getting my hands on one of these AP-15001D's to test out the 1500w claim. I've been around car audio since the late 80's and come from the days when you paid several dollars per watt, while this amp promises 10c per watt!

Those who don't like watching videos, here's my results at 14v:

4 ohms = 504w

2 ohms = 844w

1 ohm = 1115w

I have a complex test bench fitted with wirewound resistors for the ohm loads, (2) 100A 13.8v power supplies "strapped" (showing 14v), SMD DD-1 for 1% distortion measurement, Velleman HPS50 o'scope for visual display of waveform and wattage measurement (or Volts RMS at 1 ohm), Klein Tools CL2000 True RMS Clamp Meter for measuring DC Amperage pull from amp, Fluke 85 III multimeter for verifying ohm loads, 40Hz test tone from DD-1 disc, Yamaha RX-V670 receiver as pre-amp (has large analog volume knob for precise adjustments) and iPod Nano 1st gen with Wolfsen audio chip and DD-1 test tone loaded in Apple lossless format.

I've seen many people "clamp" test this amp and get 1500w or more. Truth is, if you are using a speaker as the load, you must take into account phasing. If you don't know what I'm talking about,

Say what? The AP is the "Professional" series...LOL

I was actually going to buy the APSM, but since the AP was more expensive, I decided to go high end //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

yea the apsm get down honestly....

try the lower end then lol

Hey Bigd I have a apsm 1500 if you want we can split shipping I will ship to you and you can bench it and then send it back. I might send ya my RF power 100HD and let ya bench it too. II just got it back from Sound Resort over in North Conway,NH the guy put in 2 new modules and said he repalced a few capacitors I havent fired it up yet even.

I have a 100HD and have benched it already. It's essentially (2) Punch 30's in one chassis. Not much more than rated unfortunately, hard to believe RF called this a "Power" series!

If you are willing to ship me the APSM1500, I'll test it and pay for shipping back. I was actually considering buying one just to test, but this would work as well. If you are up for it, I am also. Just realize due to my work and personal schedule, it may take me a few weeks to do the test. As long as you're cool with that, we can move forward. It not, I'll just buy one, then sell it if I don't like it.

Well if you were going to buy one just to test it I was planning on buying another and running a pair strapped. So if ya just want to do that then I will buy it from ya for what you paid that would be fine too if not I will just mail ya the apsm I have already and get another later. If ya decide to have me ship mine then just pm me your addy.

Yeah no big hurry right now season is over and I have to gut the explorer back end for the wall I am going to put in.

I seriously doubt the APSM1500 will do rated with a resistive load....the way the magazines used to test them. Testing with speakers as the load is not 100% accurate, see the video by D'Amore I linked to in my original post. My setup mocks the AD-1 "Amp Dyno" and IS accurate

Still waiting for the Power 1000c test video now get back to the bench.
I need some XS Power batts or something, my dual 100A Power supplies were loaded down and could not handle the 4ch 2ohm stereo or 2ch 4ohm bridged load of the 1000c! It is a MONSTER Class A/B amp and prob needs 250A at full tilt

250 amps that fcvking insane. I know they are though My best friend growing up put a 1000c on a pair of the first RF power 18's back in 92 and it was crazy they had to drop in a second hi-out alt and 2 batts just for that amp.

It all depends on what type of music you listen to. My tests are with test tones and are very straining on the amp(s). I've seen 1/4 - 1/3 less amperage pull when playing back music, even bass heavy music. For example, the Orion XTR-2250 I just tested pulled over 100A at full tilt, but with speakers and music I could only get it to around 35A peaks of current
