Yes I posted the link in an entirely different thread...

I'm also fully willing to test out any audiomobile drivers out...

But.. I'm flawed too...

Hey matt.. I've seen what your drivers do in competitions.. don't get too big of a head about them.. it ain't that impressive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

"Mr. Overpeck...am I correct in saying the the IDMax, W7, RE XXX, Blueprint 1503, and Brahma have surpassed the EVO in terms of linear excursion??? It seems to me that you whole company is based on Xmax...but there are about 10 drivers that surpass the EVO...would you care to enlighten me???"

Yes, that assessment would be accurate. However, it appears that your not to up to date on published test reports, so I will be happy to fill you in. The EVO 2200 series is our "entry-level" sub. At 14 mm of X-max, it is never was the "X-MAX leader" (though it does have more then any Kicker 10/12 so that is not too shabby.). The comment about the EVO 10 being "the best" was referenced to the 10's that M-E has reviewed in the past several years, and nothing more.

While the other drivers you have mentioned are all excellent, as they all cost far more and feature 3" VC motors, they are more comparable to our EVO-R series, which has more documented X-MAX (how far it can travel before it will begin to distort) then any of the above mentioned drivers, and has moe cone area as well, so that would make it the highest displacement driver on the market....and at $349 (Introductory priced at $314 for the moment), nothing will move more air for similar money...

W7 13 has less cone area and similar Xmax (28 mm).

IDMAX is not available in a 15 and has less Xmax (24 mm)

Blueprint and Brahma has less cone area and less Xmax (25 mm / 27mm)

And there is do documentation to support what the actual Xmax of any of these brands that do offer a 10" can actually do.

But I can guarantee you that our MASS 10 will deliver comparable excurion to any 10 on the market, and do it for under $300...(with less moving mass, lower Fs, lower inductance, more cone area and less distortion).

Xmax is not the be all end all specification in subwoofers, but it will tell you how far the driver can travel (in one direction) before the VC starts to loose so much of it's magnetic force, so that distortion will rise to an audible level. So that makes it pretty important. Because when the VC does exit the gap (given that you have the required power to achieve this), then I can assure your SQ will go out the door...

Hope that proves illuminating...

By the way, comparing any 10" sub (MASS or any other) to any 12" sub (with comparable Xmax) does not prove anything, though we have had a few people do this (hint) and think that this is somehow a valid comparision. Just like comparing an EVO-R 15 to any 12"....it is just not comparing "apples to apples".

Stay tuned for the next issue of M-E...and that should prove to be illuminating (and educational) as well...

Regards,

Matt

Not sure what kind of "car show" you went to (or how much power your running), but you should understand that big ported / SPL box apps (if that is the kind of show you were at), are NOT what the MASS subs were designed to do. The MASS subs can get very loud (as documented by the orignal test of the proto MASS 2012, yet it still managed to play louder (129.1 dB) then a CV Stroker 15 did in a 3.2' vented box (129.0 dB). So that is pretty remarkable.

This is why Tom Nousaine call the MASS 2012, "the new stroke and SPL champion!" The SPL part referred to having 'broken' the SPL record for a single sub, 'in-car', as tested by CSR / M-E. Not bad for a 'SQ' sub...

While the new W6 appear to be an excellent driver, perhaps your not aware that the MASS subs offer FAR more excusion (Xmax) then the W6v2's do (24 mm vs 16.5 mm) and will handle more power etc. So you should be aware that the chances of your performance being even 'as good' with those new subs, is not a strong probability. Just FYI...

Good luck with your system!

Matt

wow, that is the biggest bunch of bullsh*t i have ever heard in my whole life. For one, a cv stroker 15 has the capability to have way more spl than a mass 12, and two, where do you get your info from? seriously, that stroker would desimate that mass in a second. Another thing, how come ive only heard complaints about your subs? heck, my friend said your sub was bottom heavy compared to the idmax, doesn't sound like a good sub to me!!!!!!

Overpeck, you are not understanding our point. The point is that you don't see other competitors on here trying to sell their product. They let their woofers sell themselves. If your woofer performs as well as you say, you would have no need to be here, but obviously it doesn't perform, and it needs a mouth (that would be you) to fabricate stories into ripping off some poor little newbie. And for the record, X-max doesn't make or break a woofer, there are many more technical aspects combined that make or break a woofer. Myself personally, I have heard the Evo series, and was not very impressed by it, I've heard 2 setups in a local audio shop, and 1 in a car. Let me give you some advice, myself as being a new member of the review committee, I will tell you this, RangerMan is very fair, he has time, and has equipment or access to equipment to test woofers. Send him one and I'm sure he will be glad to test it, and will give you a fair review, noting the price as you like to stress. Take it or leave it, your opinion is biased, Rangerman is not. I myself would rather spend an extra $50 knowing I am getting a dependable sub. But maybe a review would change someone else's mind out there. It's up to you.

Again, Mr. Overpeck, I would love the chance to compare a Brahma and the Evo-R, and I will give a fair opinion. Are you up for it? I will compare the Mass 12 to the Shiva and so on. I will be glad to do a review with an Audiomobile sub, compared to a XXX ,Shiva, Brahma or what not.

Thanks,

RM

I've noticed that this Overpeck character has the uncanny ability to show up on any forum where his name is mentioned......kinda eerie......

i just get this feeling that he's one of those unusually high-strung individuals who impresses himself with his own vocabulary.

Mr. Overpeck, your company makes a fine product and if your only worries are "vicious rumors spread by internet forums", consider yourself a lucky man. I'd give my right arm to be able to design and test subwoofers all day......
