Audiocontrol vs. Phoneix Gold

i am currently running a Phoneix gold linedriver, and was checking out the Audiocontrol Matrix. the PG puts out 9v max, and the matrix is 13v max, if i switch would i notice a differnce or is it just a waste of money, the matrix is like $130+ new...im a big fan of linedriver, always have had one since my decks have always had low preout voltage, but everyone has their own opinion. what do you guys think??

I would be surprised if 4V difference over 9V will do anything good for your system Stick with PG, it's a very quality piece.

i agree, i don't think it's necessary to do so. 9v is already high as it is

why do you think you need a line driver? what is the output voltage of your HU?

Also remember you'll never get anywhere near that much voltage with most music anyway. Just 0dB material @ or near full volume.

I'd look into low impedance outputs before I'd look into a line driver.

Can your amp handle a 13v input?

If you know how to properly match your amplifier gains to your head units output you would not even need a line driver in the first place. The more components you put in the signal path the higher the chances will be that you will pick up noise or other anomolies.

i kno my amp can handle the PG i dont kno about the Matrix, but i run a 9856 pretty sure 2v. which sucks, but i love alpine decks so. i just wanted to see what you guys had to say about them, thanks for the input!!

i bought one back in the day when i bought my alpine deck i think it was the 9813. very nice deck but no power through the rca's. i had to have the gain almost all the way up with just the deck. then i bought the line driver and didn't need to set the gains past 1/8. the only reason i have it in my car now with the deck i have is because i needed longer rca's and i happened to have 2 short sets so i am using them with the line driver. i set my gain on my amp with a dmm and it's almost set all the way down.
