Audiobahn amp

Long story short, I have an old audiobahn amp that does a claimed 1200@1ohm.

Iv'e had it for about 5 or 6 years now. Don't know the model number (but can go find it if it would help anybody here out) but it's all chrome with blue led's and fans //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Anyone have an estimate for how much it ACTUALLY puts out? I was thinking of setting the gain for 800....think it'll even do that?

Thanks

I still have a 6 year old Audiobahn amp pushing a sub in my brother's car. Bought it new back then and it has been working that same sub for the entire time I've had it. Even though they were flashy they did decently well, at least back then. I think it is an A4002. I think it put out around 400W RMS but was touted as 800. In reality it probably does 300W, as I never thought it got as loud as it should.

If you can get the model number it would be very helpful.

How do you set the gain for 800?

You just guess if your sub is wired at 1 ohm that when the output voltage reaches a certain point that you are getting 800 watts? Uhmm, it really doesn't work that way... You need a clamp meter AND a voltmeter or you need a meter that reads both and calculates the output for you. I think Jacob at Sundown has one of those meters... not sure where he got it. Just curious what you were talking about....

What model is this amp? I might could give you more info on it with the model number.

Im pretty sure he meant that hes gonna use a DMM to get the desired volts that equal 800w.

Get over yourself.

So a simple DMM gain setting isn't perfect. No, a 1 ohm nom sub system will not actually present 1 ohm to the amp.

Big freaking deal.

It WILL eliminate clipping if the amp is even CLOSE to the target power at that impedance. I believe that IS the objective.

A by ear setting is perfectly adequate for most of us. The DMM method is fine for those that don't trust their ears.

We don't need clamp meters and o-scopes to set our gains reasonably well.

Yeah...lol, thought that would be pretty obvious.

Found the model, it's an A1200dt. Anyone have an idea what it'll do?

btw, I found it quite funny...I found the reciept for it and it was 427$. What a ripoffffff. Oh well, times have changed.
