Ok so my car came with no speakers, im guessing the previous owner had aftermarket ones he wanted to keep.

First things first, im going to be buying new front door speakers.

Ill prob be getting something similar to these. Id like to spend under $150 on used ones from ebay.

What size speaker wire should i get to run to these speakers? 12ga, 16ga?

After i do front and rear speakers I plan to use an aftermarket amp to run them.

So im doing front door speakers

then a few weeks ill do rear speakers

then cd deck, prob alpine

then aftermarket amp.

When i run an aftermarket amp for my door speakers, does the wire run from the cd deck, to the amp, then to the speakers? Trying to figure it out because ill run all the wires to the back, then to the doors so it will be ready for an amp when i add one.

12g is not need for speakers....you can use 16g or 18g. run thm off the hu. your say your going to amp them later. an easy way i found out to do this, when you hook up your amp, run the speaker wires from the amp to the hu. when you disconnect the speakers from the hu, just connect them to the wiring coming from the amp. this way you won't have to deal with running wries through the door and stuff, which can be a pain.

Thanks for the reply's and good ideas. Now what door speakers for under 150 used or so, how are the ones i posted?

for what its worth - heres my opinion

i kinda did that with my first sytem... bought alright speakers and added piece by piece

and eventually the thing is i enjoyed it so much i wasn't happy with the crap i bought after awhile.. and ended up replacing everything with better stuff

so the original stuff i bought was really just a waste of money...

save your money - do some research and buy something you will be happy with for many moons to come =)

cause the different between like $100 speakers and $250ish is huge usually compared to $300 and 500 ect... esp if you plan on adding an amp eventually

and i never listened to them personally - but from what i hear - you can do much better than kappas - try to stay away from stuff you see at like best buy or circuit city... there are much better brands that you've never heard of that will easily out preform almost all that stuff for less money

and also i noticed you didnt say anything about adding subs - if you're not going to.. make sure to pick a speaker with good midbass

Well which "budget" speaker would you recommend.

These are going in my winter beater/rainy day car. Otherwise i drive my sport-bike :]

So i dont need the best stuff, just to make my shitty weather day rides more enjoyable :]
