Audio noob... help please.

I recently put new audio in my car and the bass from my sub doesn't sound right to me... Here is what I have.

Cadence F200-2

Kenwood KFC-W12PS single 12" sub

I have the amp bridged and my head unit is a soundstream vir-7355nr if it matters. What hertz should I have my head unit and amp set to? Should I have the amp bridged? Also, my box is crappy and old so I am going to buy a new one... What should I get? I'm driving an Avalon if it matters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The sub isn't a bad choice when on a budget. I would look around for a respectable 500 watt amp, though. If you can set the lpf on your sub channel on your deck, do so at eighty hz and set the amp to full range(crossover off). Don't turn your gain up all Willy nilly trying to get more out of the amp, either. Get a digitalmultimeter and read on how to set it that way.

The enclosure is always important, but especially so in a low wattage sub stage. You need one that is highly efficient to make the most of your power. There are several excellent designers on this site, if you can handle building it. If not, that won't be a big enclosure and @double 07 ; can probably get one to you for a fair price.

Okay. So, I should have my amp on full range? Not on LPF? I bought an atrends slot ported box and it made a huge difference.
Problem with most of the prefabs, including Atrend is they're tuned way to high and not enough port area. But if you like the improvement in output that's what's important.

if your deck has a low pass function than you can turn your amp to full-range, but if it doesn't than definitely turn the lpf on the amp on or else the woofer will attempt to hit every note sent to it.

And bridge the amp for sure, it's 4 ohm stable in when bridged and your sub is 4 ohms as well so it will be perfect.
