Hey guys...new member, signed up just to find out the answer to this one question, as I'm not looking for any huge system in my car.
Right now, I have an MR2 with a Kenwood HU, Phoenix Gold 6.5 components, not sure what brand tweeters, and the components and tweeters are being powered by a Soundstorm 4F400.
I have two 5" (don't laugh!) Tang Band subs that are fitted in place of the factory subwoofer locations being powered by the factory amp.
Since I've had this car (2 years), I've had problems with the audio when I'd turn it up to louder volumes. I have a new redtop Optima and was told by a mechanic that my alternator is operating fine...
THE PROBLEM: When I turn up the volume to something nice and loud, the HU shuts itself off and turns back on and will keep doing this until one of two things are done:
1) I turn down the volume
2) I start driving
Due to these two solutions to my problem, I know it's a power related issue.
What could it be? I've heard various solutions to my problem.
Do I need an amp for my subs? Is there a short somewhere?
