Attn mods and goob: Attack ads on CA

I've been on this site for a little over a year, have been in the "industry" for over 24 years and have a graduate degree in IT...never had a problem with this site because I have virus software, block all popups, never click on any link posted here (why Spidey and I say things like "Thanks for posting the article *******" when only a link is posted), backup all my shit using Carbonite and generally have a brain. DaveInLA, you can try to walk the OP thru some form of getting rid of that virus but trust me when I say, a complete wipe of the drive and re-install is gonna be the only sure way to fix it. Better to just get it done than to waste 1, 2, 3+ days fucking around with a virus that you ultimately won't be able to get rid of. My two cents. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Says the guy shooting in the dark. Well done chap. That's CIO level material right there. By the time you're done with him he'll have spent 24 hours troubleshooting it and still be left with nothing. His computer is crippled. This is serious shit and it WILL gain access to your bank information if you're not smart about your online banking.
Oh yea, how long does it take to reinstall from backup?
U ain't lying when u said ur computer is crippled.. I couldn't do shit on mine.... I had to reformat and install windows 7 just to fix it

Hmm I've been working with computers for around 20 years, everything from repair to system administration to network administration... I run I.E. and I don't have any issues personally. I'm on here every day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
It boots into safe mode. There is an alternate .exe for Malwarwbytes and SuperAntispyWare that generally WILL run in situations like this... but usually you can just rename the .exe to bullshit.exe or whatever you want to name it and it will run. Might have to do it in the folder and run it from there.
Malware usually doesn't use heuristics to determine what is trying to remove it, so simply renaming it generally works.

If that doesn't work you can change the file extension to .scr instead of .exe and it should install. At that point you might have to rename the .exe again after the installation, or change the file extension to .scr

But obviously, Spider Monkey is far more experienced and talented in situation like this... so if you want some help I'll be glad to give you a hand, just PM me so I don't have to come read Spider Monkey's "thanks for playing" when his only solution is to reinstall Windows. Quite the computer pro you are Spider Monkey, quite the pro!
Or oh guru Monkey, you can look at the URL and make sure it's legit, make sure it says https:// and not http://, says stands for secure by the way, it's a combination of SSL/TLS and TCP/IP that prevents sniffing and ensure you are connected to the server you think you are, but I'm sure you know that, amirite.
If your PC is clean and you know the place you are conducting transactions with, and follow the very simple suggestions above on-line transactions and banking are safer than face to face transactions.
No, I'm a network administrator. And K1 level "garbage" is how people get malware in the first place.
lol @ glorified level 1 tech mad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Every textbook admin with an MCSE they got from Phoenix University thinks they're some Steve Jobs type computer whiz, do yourself and STFU and stop while your head before you get banana hammocked.

I'm sure you can install and printer driver or change a toner with the best of them but myself and SM have been working on computers longer that you have probably been alive son.

Lol. If you want to see a video of command line saying access is denied to all of the folders associated with malwarebytes, I will do it. Can't get to the .exe, can't get to the shortcut, nothing. What part of nothing did you not quite get? I mean, you are sitting here talking to me like I am a computer illiterate fucktard when that is far from the case. Gotta love auto scripts wrote into ads. FWIW, the old lady wanted a new laptop anyways, this just gives us an excuse. I will run Ubuntu on the new one long enough to copy the music and photos, and then reinstalling. It is okay with me, got a legit key, and I have all the factory drivers. Only thing that pisses me off is the banking thing, going to have to tell my old lady to get ahold of the bank.

Yea this shit got me yesterday also! it got my work pc and my boss was furious!!! we had to call out IT dept @ corporate to fix it. IT wouldn't let us do anything.
