It boots into safe mode. There is an alternate .exe for Malwarwbytes and SuperAntispyWare that generally WILL run in situations like this... but usually you can just rename the .exe to bullshit.exe or whatever you want to name it and it will run. Might have to do it in the folder and run it from there.

Malware usually doesn't use heuristics to determine what is trying to remove it, so simply renaming it generally works.

If that doesn't work you can change the file extension to .scr instead of .exe and it should install. At that point you might have to rename the .exe again after the installation, or change the file extension to .scr

But obviously, Spider Monkey is far more experienced and talented in situation like this... so if you want some help I'll be glad to give you a hand, just PM me so I don't have to come read Spider Monkey's "thanks for playing" when his only solution is to reinstall Windows. Quite the computer pro you are Spider Monkey, quite the pro!

Once again, thanks for playing.

That won't work, shit for brains. He can't get to the Internet. He can't launch applications. How in the fuck you gonna remote in? It is amazing that you've spent 20 years in the 'industry'. I've spent zero and I'm more helpful than you. Course that is because I got the same shit a while back... twice. lol
Says he has Malwarebytes on the PC now... how about trying the renaming solution I suggest and going from there, shit for brains. You have roughly the IQ of a Spider Monkey obviously.

I did miss the part about being connected via his iPhone, so you can start a 3 hour tirade about that. I thought he was indeed able to connect.

I'm offering advice, you are offering to tell him what a moron does to "fix" a computer issue. That simple.

OP have you tried disabling all the addons in I.E.? Some of this malware is just an addon, you can get rid of it once you disable it in I.E.

My last Apple product was an Apple IIe. Been a PC user since, running Windows and various flavors of Linux.

I've never HAD to reformat and reinstall Windows on any of my personal PC's for any reason other than a failed hard drive. Same goes for the thousands of PC's I've worked on, unless corporate policy dictated a reimage vs. a cleanup. I can do a manual cleanup faster than running a reimage disk.

But yeah, I don't know much, listen to Spider Monkey and lose everything ya got on that PC.

Same thing happened to Noah. Good thing I have never conducted any online banking on this computer.
Or oh guru Monkey, you can look at the URL and make sure it's legit, make sure it says https:// and not http://, says stands for secure by the way, it's a combination of SSL/TLS and TCP/IP that prevents sniffing and ensure you are connected to the server you think you are, but I'm sure you know that, amirite.

If your PC is clean and you know the place you are conducting transactions with, and follow the very simple suggestions above on-line transactions and banking are safer than face to face transactions.

Says the guy shooting in the dark. Well done chap. That's CIO level material right there. By the time you're done with him he'll have spent 24 hours troubleshooting it and still be left with nothing. His computer is crippled. This is serious shit and it WILL gain access to your bank information if you're not smart about your online banking.
Oh yea, how long does it take to reinstall from backup?
You are a waste of breath and my time. OP the offer stands if you want me to help you out a bit.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!

That is the sound of my post flyinig way over your head.

You sound like a help desk jockey. Are you a help desk jockey? I meant things like disabling password memory and auto log-on features dipshit. Not K1 level 'make sure you're at a legit site' garbage.
No, I'm a network administrator. And K1 level "garbage" is how people get malware in the first place.
