*****ATTN CA.com JL IS NOT OVERPRICED*****

Demand has nothing to do whether a product is overpriced...
Even though you may not need a boat, would you buy one if it where cheap enough?

You are too generalized in your thought processes.
Uhm...I don't know what thread you have been reading.

This thread is about JL's pricing versus other brands. You can talk supply and demand, availability, and product range all you want, but the only you can accomplish using those arguments is to justify why JL is priced the way it is. That still has no relevance to this debate.

The fact is JL products are of good quality and performance, but there will always be something better and cheaper. There will also be stuff better and more expensive, the same quality and more expensive, worse quality and less expensive, worse quality and more expensive, exactly equal, etc. Now the amount of competition available of comparable quality and lower price is in my mind what will decide if JL should be deemed overpriced or not. I still say this thread is pointless because you can always find deals on anything, you just have to look around.

Please quote me talking directly to you prior to this statement.
fair enough

so why make the thread????
felt like it

dude you really need to get off of his di/ck seriously. the entire thread has been you just being in dre's shadow agreeing to everything he's saying...please form your own opinion, and grow your OWN balls
i

and thank you squeak

You're comparing JL's prices to a list of many different competitors. Of course some brands are going to price certain products differently, and products in a certain category more competitively. How about you compare them to another manufacturer? Thats like saying walmarts expensive, and then backing that up by providing comparisons of Walmart's prices to 50 different competitors. I wouldn't be amazed if some other stores sold certain products, or comparable ones cheaper as well. Doesn't mean Walmart is over priced, or that they're not cheaper on average than the competition.
Your comparison is flawed in many ways.
Excuse my absence, but I drew comparisons at MSRP price, on products that I found to be comparable to JL products, or that are marketed to be comparable, hence the PDX 2.150, the 9500, etc.

And yes, squeak, i know you're gonna start calling stuff overpriced because there's cheaper stuff than what I posted, but the stuff you posted is of lesser quality. Now you're gonna go off on a tangent spouting off that I can't prove it and then call BS again, but if you'll grow a ****ing brain, and not be so anal, you'll see that just because something has similar specs, it doesn't make it comparable. That extra dimension known as quality, which is debatable, is hard to nail down, but again, I posted stuff that I find to be more or less of the same quality.

And yes, I think that JBL BPX amp is a rip off. They jacked up the price because it says Crown on it. Not saying its not sexy.... just that theyre just using name recognition to earn a few bucks.

By being a member here 4 years before I worked at a shop, I thought the same things about JL. But by listening to subs everyday and on and on I know the JL subs (example w3v3) is the cleanest sub compared to any other brand (sony, kenwoods, alpine)

After talking with many employees at JL, they are an SQ company. If you want a nice subwoofer, then it might be worth the $220 your paying for it retail. But if your looking for boom boom boom then look at a sony.

Is is weird how everyone compares there brands to JL? The number one reason for that being becuz its hella expensive, and its easy to show how their product is better for the money than a JL one. Granted that I have owned a RE sub (loved it for 2 years) JL and alpine subs. If i threw those in my trunk each sub is designed for something different. But all i am trying to say is they make a nice product, their retail prices are what retail prices are. JL audio is an sq company though imo.

Yeah, you are right. None of those are determinates of price.

Because nobody competes in SQ with Sony products.

-JL makes a subwoofer for almost every single application. (SPL, SQ, Show, etc.)
-JL makes amps for almost every single application. (Mono, multi channel, high/low power, modulated power supplies)

-JL products are manufactured with high quality components, contain many features, and look good.

-In every single application there will be another company that produces a product that performs just as well or better, for considerably less money

-In every single application there will be another company that produces a product that performs just as well or better, for more money

-In every single application there will be another company that produces a product that is of similar quality and price.

-In every single application there will be another company that produces an inferior product at approximately the same or higher price.

-On average the MSRP of JL products is higher than other brands' products of similar or better quality

-Online, nobody pays MSRP for anything

With the above points in mind I have concluded that this thread is 100% completely worthless.

well said.

Seriously...

JL builds a product for their market...

If they were that overpriced wouldn't they be out of business?

The idea of overpriced is very subjective. It is not quantitative. I like how people with out understanding this thread spout off about how some subwoofers is BETTER than JL. This thread has NOTHING to do with better or worse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif In case you missed it...

The idea is true that if they do not build something you are looking for then they are inferior to what you need. Money spent on something inferior is well I guess you could say overpriced. But, if you are looking for something that JL builds then they are not inferior and they are then not overpriced. Also, there is in many cases going to be someone more expensive and someone cheaper. However, you get different products. No two things work exactly alike (unless they are very good rip offs or build originally by the same people and have gone though exactly the same processes). Since there are no two things exactly alike then how can you compare JL with MTX or some other brand? You can't. They are subwoofers, they make low end, but that is about where the similarities end.

This is the point I was trying to make.

If they sold 13w7s for $50, it may be worth my while to try it. At $300+ (or whatever they sell for) it isn't worth my time, therefore it's overpriced.

I got what you were saying...

BUT, as Prof Powers said, "The non-econers" seemed to not understand... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

So I tried to simplify it a bit...
