Sean.. once upon a time... CA.com had no mods... we had a lot of great, knowledgeable people here though that enjoyed actually spending time discussing car audio and helping noobs out. With an influx of more and more kiddies to the forum running rampant an posting off-topic, rude and lude bullshit... we began organizing a strike to get mods on the forum. Goob refused and turned us down a few times... so most of us left and went over to SSA.com. Shortly after that, Goob decided he'd actually listen to what the people on his forum wanted and instated mods. Instead though, of instating mods that were actually interested in keeping the forums here a decent place to hang out... he turned it into a populatiry contest. Stating that a vote would take place among all the forum members and only the members with the highest post count would become mods. Now... back then I was among the top 5 posters as well as a few others, but since we had left to SSA... we didn't take moderator positions here.
They went to other people that really just had fun being assholes to other members.... and seems the tradition continues (at least in a good few of them).

back in the day i did have an enjoyable time trying to pass what little information i had. but now, the website has come down to the dumbest of the dumbest, and the absolute worst questions that have been asked sooooooo many times its not even worth answering...

Sorry it took me a while here... and Nawww I'm not out to change shit.. I just think it's turned into more of a joke than anything... It was mostly due to me and a few other key members of the forums here that mods are in place now... took Goob long enough to get off his *** and do something... shame he didn't have the brains to figure out how to do it properly...

You know as well as I do teebone... post count doesn't necessarily mean "active" in any form of a positive manner. Seriously, it's more of a populatiry contest than anything. If people that actually gave a shit about the forum were in control... there would be a lot more people w/ less post count in mod positions.
I can guarantee... had we been able to take control of the forum when the OG crew was around... not many people would have 15k posts or more here...

The Original, first elected moderator staff... wasn't a bad one. The second however... a few were just "flavor of the week" mods...

Yeah I can see how that could happen. So are you now wanting to revert back to the good old days somehow? It would be nice...a ca.com where it's actaully about the ca and not the lounge.

But it doesn't really matter to me, I'm pretty much only here for the classifieds.

its been like this for quite a while. The first 6 months or so after I joined, the site was great. no one made fun of anyone, there wasnt that much "beef" between members...... It was just a place where car audio enthusiasts and newcommers (sp?) came to discuss car audio issues and accomplishments. After time, people found that this site would be more useful for bullshit posts, and wanted to be the member with the highest post count (aka biggest e-balls) and It went downhill from there.

Also, the + - rating system there turned into a big shithole aswell.

bottom line, a lot of people on this site need to grow the **** up.

Not at all saying I, or any of us would have deleted more posts, but... rules would have been put in place along w/ the mod positions to keep us from having to do that. Much less of the random idiots would be allowed free rein of anywhere other than the lounge area (as a start)

I think we're just more aware of the poo. Since we joined we expanded more into the lounge and other areas. That is where everyone posts. And the threads they post in generally have nothing to do with car audio or helping anyone, just random shit they find on the internet or whatever the hell happened to them that day. It's like the site is turning into a diary for some of these guys with some mentionings of car audio from time to time.

everyone needs to grow the **** up and use this site for information. this site was like high school to me. you have to make fun of people you have no clue who they are or what they do, and think this will make you "cool" to the other members on the site.

Why dont people start acting their age and put useful mobile electronics information on this site instead of having a freshman year chick fight about who's more popular.

there are so many people on this site that could learn or teach people, but no one is worried about car audio anymore, it's all about e-popularity and who can lay down the better insult.
