Mark is very diligent with his work and I know that it sometimes takes him far too long for him to get things done.
Immediately followed by:
If he would seriously buckle down and do his job, he could be churning out these boxes at a much faster rate.
Tommy, I understand defending someone who is both mate and teammate. In the large scale I respect it. In the short term, however, that above which I have boldfaced cannot coexist. He is either diligent or he needs to get his can in gear ~ it cannot be both.

The problem is that he continuously tests and tests and tests, changing little things here and there, to make the best box he can. He's rebuilt a customers box (before sending it to him) about 3 times now to get the best performance. While this takes a painstakingly long time, he feels that in the end it is most definitely worth it.
The real problem is a constant pattern of making promises that he either cannot or will not fulfill. As I do not know Mark I cannot say with any certainty which it is. While I can get behind his going above and beyond for any customer what happens to the rest of the long list of people that have been more than patient with him while he is doing so? Good on Mark for taking good care of a customer. He should show that same dedication and attention to the rest of them. I'm trying to be respectful with both you and him as I do not care for the conversation to degrade to a schoolyard-level pissing contest but truly if you do not see the lunacy in your constant defense of someone who has done absolutely nothing to earn or deserve it then more fool you. He needs to get off the stick. He actually needed to get off of it long, long ago. Please explain to him that realizing one's limits is not a sign of weakness but rather a sign of wisdom.
