Attempting to put all my amp questions in here

I have 2 Audiobahn AW1200 (12") subs. I am currently in the designing process of building a custom ported box for them. The subs will be firing up with the ports firing back. The box will be somewhere around 3 cu ft per sub and tuned between 37-39 hz. These are more SPL oriented I would say. I want people to hear me coming, but also sound pretty decent. Each of these subs are Dual Voice Coils and are 4 Ohm subs. They are 700W RMS with 1400W peak. Does anyone have suggestions of if I should match the RMS per sub? Also, I'm not really looking to shell out a ton of cash for an amp or amps. My real questions are should I continue looking for a 700x2 ch amp @ 4ohms or should I look for 2 700W amps @ 4 ohms? Should I be looking for mono or 2 chan amps? Should I also try looking for a 2 chan bridgeable amp that produces the 700W @ 2 ohms? If I go with the dual amps, will I have to replace my alternator or will it be fine as is? My vehicle is a 2000 Ford Explorer. Also, can anyone explain how to wire the subs at 4 Ohms?

So to get them down to 1 Ohm, I wire the positives together and the negatives together on each sub and then run a positive wire from the amp to both subs and then a negative wire from the amp to both subs?

Well that works for me! I've been running through Ebay and am wondering opinions on a few brands. Hifonics? Pyle? Visonik? Lanzar? Are any of these decent amps? Reputable? Or are they all going to be POS's and give out as soon as i hook them up.. I have never gotten my system up over about half volume so I'm not pushing the very limit of the amps if that matters at all.

Hifonics makes decent budget amps. Stay away from Pyle and Visonik. The only good amp Lanzar makes is the Opti. What's your budget for an amp?

Hmm.. well I was kinda trying to stay under or right above $200 if possible.. i just found a 2kw quantum audio class AB amp. 1 X 1000 Watts @ 2 ohm, 1 X 2000 Watts @ 1 ohm. Those are the specs it comes with and my uncle knows a guy who owns an audio store and does competitive stuff and now he sells this brand and has said good things.. does it seem like it would do the job pretty well?

If it's the amp I looked at on ebay it's only rated to do 1000 rms at 1 ohm. Peak ratings mean absolutely nothing. I don't have any experience with that amp but I'd pass.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Audiopipe AP15001D as far as budget amps go. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AUDIOPIPE-1500W-MONO-Car-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Sub_W0QQitemZ220409768991QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item3351722c1f&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
