sounding like a 1990's comedian: What's the Deal With Capacitors?

I have been told for at least 2 years, that they are garbage, and I agree. But I still somehow see some people have 1 volt drops, and after installing a capacitor, no more drops. I will never buy one, because I think they are a band-aid fix and would not work for shit on a 1000 watt+ system, but I'm wondering how this happens. I read that article on ROE about capacitors and I didn't quite understand it.

On another note, I know some of you will say he's an idiot and that I'm a nub for saying this, but Steve Meade used 2 50 farad capacitors on his civic. I know he's not god and not everything he says is gospel, but why would he use them after seeing all these articles denouncing capacitors? You may not like his installs 100%, but I know he's not stupid. Do they have some specific purpose I'm not aware of?

idk but if he used 2 50 farad caps that would actually do something.........most people use a 1 farad or something

capacitors are pretty much a marketing gimmick of a way to store power.

if your in need of a capacitor, you might as well spend the money on batteries/HO alty's instead, cut out the middle man capacitor

someone correct me if im wrong, but its just something there for your amp to draw off, and the capacitor will supply an extra source of power for a few seconds or so (at full tilt volume), hense why people look at it as disguising a problem. Therefore, a HO alt and batteries will do the same thing, but a million times better

the battery recharges the cap

the alt recharges the battery

why not just draw the power direct from the battery to begin with?
