Looking for:

10" or 12" pair of subs for the car. In a sealed enclosure in the trunk.

Excellent SQ with good crankability

budget about $200 (max) a sub.

Looking at:

Ascendant Audio Assassin 10"/12" $70-$90

Ascendant Audio Arsenal 10"/12" $150-$180

Sound Splinter RL-i 10" $175

Sound Splinter RL-p 12" $250

Alpine type R 10" $200 (est)

JL audio 10w6v2 10" $200 (est)

So which would you prefer in your car/which would you buy. To me they look very similar on paper so which is the best deal?

you could get a type r 10 for like 70 bucks probably off of ebay.

Yeah type R's are cheap.

Those AA Arsenals are supposed to be a very nice SQ woofer. I know for a fact that the assassins sound good. And they can get loud. About the best $100 woofer I can think of.

P.S. I'd never buy anything JL.

2 arsenal 10's in about .75 net each with 500w per sub and you will have a nice, loud sq setup with great impact.

The Arsenals are very good SQL drivers. I've had my Arsenal 12 for four months. Not once have I regretted my decision.

Oh come on guys (refering to the ones wanting the deletes) i dont want to wait 6 months for some guy to tell me stuff that other people on here already know and are willing to tell me now.

granted the arsenal isn't in the test, but i doubt anyone has owned all the subs you mentioned, let alone all 30 of the ones being tested.

this is probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest test sessions ever conducted. and it's not being done by some corporate sponsored tools, with an underlying agenda. it's real car audio enthusiasts here to give us there objective and subjective results on a bunch of different subs.

and it's gonna start friday, so results should be up in a week or so.

but i love my assassin's, why not get a pair of them?
