Ask a 1L law student anything...

I think the limit for small claims court is 2,000 bucks. You could just eat the 700 and take them there and then NOT have to hire a lawyer and not have to pay attorney fees. If you get a lawyer it might cost you a significant amount of money. Before you do anything, threaten to report them to the better business beuarea, and if you know any lawyers ask them to sound a formal sounding letter to them. Usually when people get letters from attorneys they just cave in and refund you.
The limit for small claims court varies from state to state, but generally I believe it is $3000.

Meh, law students, whatever. Come back to me when you can state the Heisenberg uncertainty principle without googleing it.
how hard would that be? Once i learn it i would obviously remember it. I can state to you Rule 11 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure if you would like. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Alright I will try the letter thing. When they said they cannot prove I was at fault for the ****** going out I told them I will be contacting my lawyer. The woman got all mad and was like "fine call your lawyer but hes not going to do anything, dont waste your time" then hung up. I mean ****, its a 4 speed automatic with a 95hp engine on it, no way that i could have f'ed it up(no i have never done neutral drops either)

yea you might be right on that, we really haven't learned about limited jurisdiction courts yet this early on. I just got the 2,000 dollar figure because i researched small claims courts a while ago in my state and it was 2000 bucks or below.

what? Don't they play in the orange bowl? People told me we can just take the metro down? What are "case brief books" and how do i find them for my case books?
Shalala (you will figure out who she is), and the others Miami exec board just ruled the canes move to Dolphins stadium...the orange bowl had heritage but its in terrible hood.

They should carry these in the local law bookstore but if not search google and get em...just match it up with the book authors and subject and you are ready to go. aspen and west make them too...they both work well but I like aspen because you can get online copies of the briefs. Thus, no need to type up briefs; you can edit theirs to your teachers liking.

thanks ill definately check them out. Do you think i am wasting my time briefing and reading every case I get assigned to as of now? It's taking up basically 100% of my time so I don't have time to do anything else academic related except read and brief cases.

IMO yes...if they dont collect briefs just read the case brief to get an idea, then read the actual case, then prepare the brief accordingly. Emanuel outlines FTW also...you can dl free if you search google. but read every case in case you get called on randomly...unless they assign specific cases to each person.
