You know, you really shouldn't speak of that which you haven't a clue... About every post in this thread you've made is complete fabrication and outright wrong.
I NEVER dealt with Chad directly - ever. He used Destijl to build his drivers, paid his royalties to Destijl, never talked with us. First time I even knew he was using XBL² was when AA made their announcement. It was done strictly with Destijl, never with Adire. No paperwork, no checks, nothing.

Really, you should get your facts straight before trying to talk from "on high"...

You seem to think you know everything about speakers, but consistantly prove that you have no idea what you are talking about. The above is just proof of your ignorance on the subject. I will never claim to come close to understanding magnetics and how they interact as it is a hugely complex topic. However I was fortunate to listen to an explanation of the techicalities of XBL^2 and many of the secrets still held from someone holding a doctorate on the subject; Dr. David Hyre. It was well above my head, but I could see from the results that there are a lot of small things that haven't been shared about the technology, and some of those things are benifits XBL^2 has that other designs don't have.

So tell me this, if you know more about speaker design than Dan does, which you seem to think is true based on how you constantly say he's wrong, then why did you go to him for consulting for a speaker design?

How do you think he felt when his expertise was constantly questioned by someone who came to him for this very expertise? I'm not surprised that the "know-it-all teenager" he had to deal with felt "a bit frustrated and even angry" when they had to face the fact that they really didn't know as much as they thought they did.

You obviously have no idea how patents work. When the patent for XBL^2 finally goes through, then Dan would have legal action against anything sold using it even while it was still pending. Paying the royalties is not a "favor" to Dan, but a smart move to prevent oweing the royalties later.

Again you post commentary on things you have no idea about. Chad handled the situation in a very unbusiness like manner, while Dan took the high road in how he handled that situation. You won't read how he handled it because his actions weren't made public. But I can assure you they were handled honorably, matching Dan's character.

I in fact never said I know MORE than Dan about XBL2... I simply stated it's a SIMPLE technology

I've never designed a XBL speaker as I don't wish to use it for many reasons... mostly because of my dealings with Adire, but secondly because my goals have been met with other methods that are cheaper and in fact offer more sound quality and lower distortion

I never called Dan's character into question Steven... though my dealings were unpleasant I've generally tried to give unbiased opinions about technology A, technology B, technology C, etc.

IF Dan would LIKE to discuss XBL2 with me there was a lovely thread over at CAF that he dropped out of after I showed the benefits of Underhung's |b| vs. XBL2's

Dan examines the more "traditional" way to approach underhung vs. the way I explained there... and mostly the argument was the same... you can save 40% on steel costs with XBL2 as you add 40% in magnet costs (a terrible thing for neo motors as they are much more expensive than steel) at the cost of 2 times (minimum) Mms for the larger VC

it's a simple tradeoff... and I don't want to turn a thread about AA into XBL2 vs. other topography's...

Dan's explainations are not all incompassing most of the time and present the benefits of XBL2 against more traditional methods but without examining TRULY the benefits of both

If most people understood how important a low Mms is for ANY design this would be better understood... BL is important as well however the main difference is that BL is simply "making up" for the high Mms (realitively to underhung)... and it can NEVER wholly make up for underhung without destroying QTS....

Wait till Friday Steven and you can examine the specifications for yourself of exactly what I'm talking about when Ology's 6.5" will be finished... the cone and spider will finally be in this week and it will be finished.

Again Steven you seem to take things personally and only quote things Dan has said, when it's quite clear as FACT the benefits of both... The whole truth has never been spoken about XBL2 compared to other technologies from Dan... so just leave it as that until you understand how it WORKS steven (all technologies that is).

Wow, another Feandil / Wiggins flamewar. Ha! This time it happened and I had no involvement, I feel better about it now.
I'd made a longer post, then edited it. All I have to say is that once again, we have a bunch of 8 year old kids running these companies.

Take Feandil's post. He made the assumption that AA dealt with Dan directly. That could be considered childish, but all in all, big friggin' deal. He personally did, and he's a smaller company than they are, anyone could think the same. Remember Dan's reply? Real mature. "Because you made one obvious mistake in one post I'm going to call BS on everything else you've said without a shread of reason or evidence or purpose."

If he said something that's blatantly wrong, point it out. Say "They pay royalties now so that they don't build up until the patent is given." or "Yes Feandil didn't know quite what he thought he did but I didn't tell him to just pick a absolute design so I could build the **** thing and not push prototype dates back over and over again" or "Yes Chad at AA was immature but you couldn't say I was not rocking the boat at the same time.".

Not "You're a blatant liar but I'm not going to say why or what you've said is untrue."

That's my mistake as I completely forgot that Destijl was licensed to do builds with XBL2... and I never directly asked Chad what buildhouse he was using

however I never claimed anything adverse against Dan except my own experiences really... and exactly what happened there without any real bias I assure you

In the future I'll be a bit more brief.... I simply have my doubts that Chad didn't have reasons to do what he did... Chad is a calm guy and probably wouldn't be pushed to posting something like that unless there was something else

anyway leave it at that.... I can't comment anymore than what I know personally and what my experiences have been with both individual companies and the individuals themselves (both I've dealt with)

One thing at least we're trying to do over here is be a bit more explicit in communications with our expectations, delays, dates, etc... I simply didn't want to leave Chad to be bashed in this thread... nothing more than that crossed my mind...
