Ok, I finally got my sub and amo in my car hooked it up set the gains etc etc.

Then I started the car, and guess what my rear speakers click/tut/ etc etc. It sounds like they are arcing.

Im guessing this is interference from the power wire from my sub.

I can't really move the wires further apart because the amp is under the passenger seat and the rear speaker cables are wired down the passenger side, next to it.

Is there a way to shield the wires? ATM I have just unplugged them cause it is doing my nut in.

Any suggestions (apart from re-wiring) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

just to make sure. you are not getting the signal for the amp from the rear speakers right? also check the plugs for your rear speakers make sure they are on all the way and not touching any metal. try disconnecting your amp and see if ther clicking goes away. if none of this works check the wiring for the rear speakers and make sure there are not any shorts or any thing. hope this helps!

Ah right, deck has 2 pre-out front and rear, no bass only, so I hocked it up to the rear, would this cause it?

The speakers were working fine before, and are ok when the engine is off, just when i turn on the car it starts.

It sounds like the arcing noise you get when your HT leads are sparking. (they are not though)

The power wire supplying the amp runs right next to the rear speaker wires, im guessing this will cause the interference. Can i sheild it in anyway or is it a re-wire?

is the arcing sound comming from both rear speakers? by chance when you added the rca's is any part of the harness/wire bundel touching the rca's? as for shielding try some rubber material. i dont think you would get that much interferrance (mabey a lil whining) from close wires. how close is the ground for you amp to the back speakers?

Erm right i have the rear output connected to the RCA > Amp

The rear speakers (and front speakers are from the Hu amp out).

The rear speakers run out from the headunit, down next to the RCA, and the power wire from the amp. They then run right by the amp, and out to the boot/trunk. It is both speakers that clik/arc but one is slightly louder than the other. The ground for my amp is the seatbelt bolt (that the speakers wires run by), I now guess that is my prob, I will investigate more tomorrow as it is getting dark out here.

I can slightly hear it from the front speakers if there is a gap in the sound and im in traffic but it is realy quiet and barley noticible, so maybe not the ground (they don';t run anywhere near it)

Hmmmmmm, have fun trying to work this out

The power wire is straight from the battery, throught the firewall on the passenger (left hand side //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) down by the centre console and under the passenger seat.

It can't really go anywhere else with out taking round the whole car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

My car is a Rover Metro (never heard of it?) There is a pic here for you to get an idea of it

http://www.rover100.co.uk/

It is a very small car (think like and old mini but a little bigger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif )

I suppose I will just need to try everything one by one and see what is causeing it.

Cheers for taking an interest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry ive been away for a day or so. hows it goin? yeah ive never hear/seen one of thoes before, so i dont know any quarks about'em. any new discoveries or progress?

Cheers. I havn't had any time to try anything, yet. I stuck a post on that other forum.

I will see if i can get a list of things to try and try them one by one.

Should be able to have a look tomorrow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
