Are my tweeters blown? =/

I'm wondering if my tweeters are blown. I got rid of the amp I was powering them with and they are are running off h/u power for now until my new amp comes. They are CDT HD62 components. They sound fine and all but when you turn it up to a certain point, and there are words that have S's in them and such there is a weird "CHH" sound instead of a clear S sound. Does that mean they're blown? Or they're just turned up too high? There's no distortion when this happens, by the way. Thanks.

Sounds like you are just getting some sibilance.

Which, in turn, sounds like you are just turning it up too high.

If they were blown, it would be pretty obvious.

Basically exactly what he's describing....a harsh almost hiss type sound on S's, like an overexaggeration of the "S" or S type sound.

Hm k. Yea it's probably that cause they don't get as loud as when they were amped so I was probably just turning it up too much. Thanks.
